The three of us stayed in this beautifully decorated gite for a week and were impressed by the way Bernard and Sandra brought the castle La Barre back to life. A fantastic accommodation in a quiet place, in an area with an extensive history where there is also a surprising amount to see.

Well, what do we need to add. Reception was superb, the environment is super relaxed and beautiful, the stay was really great, we lacked nothing.
Everything has been thought of. We will definitely come back here.

We very much enjoyed our stay at La Barre, located in a beautiful area with wide sunflower fields. The cottage is fully equipped and has good beds. The view of the gigantic garden is amazing. (And we still miss it.) In the area...

We very much enjoyed our stay at La Barre, located in a beautiful area with wide sunflower fields. The cottage is fully equipped and has good beds. The view of the gigantic garden is amazing. (And we still miss it.) In the area (max 1.5 hours drive) there are plenty of beautiful villages, cities and interesting places to visit. A little further drive (2h) you are on the coast at the nice seaside resort of Les Mathes, the peninsula Île d'Oleron, etc. Saintes is a beautiful city to visit. Supervised swimming (!) is possible at a number of places in the area. The Charente river at Vars or in the lake at Plan d'Eau de la Grand Prairie. We had a nice contact with the very hospitable landlords Bernard & Sandra. Highly recommended is the guided tour of La Barre by Bernard. He takes you infectiously enthusiastic into the history of this beautiful castle.

We had a wonderful week with your holiday. Brilliant place, peace and more peace. We will definitely be back.

Very much enjoyed a week in this beautiful and relaxing place. The gite is spacious, provides everything you need and it is nice to wake up with such a view! We have made varied trips in the area and around the chateau you can take nice walks.
The hospitality of Bernard and Sandra is nothing short of top-notch, the food delicious and the tour of the castle interesting and passionately told.
In short, highly recommended and we hope to come back someday.

Spending a day with children at Plan d'eau de Grande la Parairie is wonderful.

We (and our three small children, 1, 4 and 6) were allowed to stay at this wonderful place for three weeks. Beautiful when you drive through the long driveway towards the castle, where you will be warmly welcomed by Bernard and Sandra.

The place: Beautifully quiet location with panoramic views and absolute silence, beautiful starry sky and nature around you. We are always looking for a place that we can use as a base to see a lot in the area. In the area there are plenty of castles, charming villages and beautiful cities worth seeing. Given the age of our children, we kept about an hour as the maximum travel time, you are able to drive a little further, there is still a lot to see and do with it. Despite the fact that you sit quietly, there are several bakeries in the area, supermarket nearby and a number of fine restaurants nearby.

The house: We were happy to complete the three weeks in this well-equipped house. It is big enough and equipped with all comforts (air conditioning, dishwasher, wifi). Since we were the first guests with children, a number of things were important to us and they were arranged in no time. A nice new high chair, swimming pool and a cot was arranged for us. We found the house neatly clean and there were a number of nice welcome gifts.

The people: Bernard and Sandra are very sweet people who we have been able to get to know over time. You are free to ask questions, the door is always open and they will immediately think along with you. The tour of the castle is highly recommended now that Bernard knows how to tell the story with passion. Also inside you can see the love and respect for this place, chapeau how you have honored the building. The dinner at the castle provided by Sandra was also very good, but in addition to the good food, the cozy get-together was even more worth it.

Bernard and Sandra, we had a wonderful time. Thank you for the hospitality, the beautiful place and the good care. Together with Nora, Livia and Mathis, we have been able to make beautiful memories at Logis de la Barre. May it continue to go well for you.
