We have been to Alpenruhe twice. From Arnhem it is about 1000 km. ride. The only downside is that the second part of the trip actually goes entirely through mountain areas, so it will take you a bit longer than on the highway. It's nice if you drive during the day! The chalet is, especially compared to other areas, very spacious. Six fixed berths, no folding beds. Good mattresses, duvets and pillows. Well equipped bathroom. On the ground floor it is also well furnished, a pleasant sitting area, and a nice large dining table. The kitchen has everything you need. The entire chalet is clean and tidy. Outside there is a carport (nice with ice and snow!) and a shed. The village is quite small and does not have many facilities, but what is nice is that there are a Lidl and a Spar available within a few minutes by car. Both times we were there during spring break (region south) to go skiing in Nassfeld. The first time we were a bit apprehensive about the distance from the chalet to the ski resort. So that's not too bad! The ride takes about 25 minutes at most. The road is never crowded, passes through 11 small villages, and is always cleared of snow. The ski resort has a large free car park, and there's a sort of bus to the gondola all day long (in 3 minutes), so you'll never have to carry your ski gear more than 100 metres from your car. Super! It is a nice area, especially when you are with children; Spacious slopes with many chairlifts. And: even during the spring break we never had to wait at the ski lifts, except maybe 20 minutes for the first gondola. You can really ski all day long! (You will more than make up for the time of the morning ride!) The landlords are very friendly and communicate directly. After us, the chalet was not rented, and it was no problem at all to stay another night, so that we could drive home on Sunday. Highly recommended, also for winter sports!

Thank you for your very comprehensive and fair review. We couldn't describe it better ourselves. You indicate that the village is quite small and does not have many facilities to offer. The village still has 5 restaurants, 4 bakeries, many places to drink coffee, 2 banks, gas stations etc.etc., but fortunately it is indeed, as you indicate, quite small and, fortunately, has no wild nightlife.
