- The name of Ribatejo literally means ‘above the Tagus’.
- Ribatejo is the only Portuguese region which doesn’t have a border with Spain.
- The best wines from this region have resounding names such as Castelão, Camarete, Preto Martinho and Aragonez.
- This region plays host to many festivals. One of the most exceptional ones if the Festo dos Tabuleiros, an ancient harvest festival that is held every four years in the town of Tomar.
