Quinta do Sameiro


Quinta do Sameiro occupies a 1.8 hectare site on the southern slope of the Serra do Caramulo, 2 km from the nearest village. The house consists of two parts: an upper house with on the first floor hall, kitchen/living room, two bedrooms, bathroom and large balcony, and on the ground floor a third bedroom and a second bathroom; and a ground floor apartment. In principle, the ground floor apartment is not rented out. During their stay, the tenants have the entire site, including swimming pool. for themselves.

The house is surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens and has a magnificent view over the valley, with the Serra da Estrela on the horizon. There is a large swimming pool (12x4 m); The pool house has a fireplace. The site has numerous fruit trees (including oranges, lemons, limes, grapefruits, plums) and olive trees; Depending on the season and the harvest, there are blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, kiwis, persimmons, almonds, walnuts, hazelnuts. There is also a small vegetable garden. There is plenty of privacy; The site is largely walled. 

The immediate area is suitable for walks and cycling/mountain biking. Campo de Besteiros, the nearest village, however small, has everything for daily shopping, and the regional town of Tondela is 8 km away. The region has numerous good restaurants and is known for its good (Dão) wines. Viseu is less than half an hour away; Coimbra, Porto and the Aveiro coast are about an hour away. The quinta is an hour and a half drive from Porto airport.

We are a now retired couple; We bought the quinta, which had been empty for ten years at the time, and neglected it 17 years ago and renovated it little by little. We spend as much time as possible there, enjoying the peace and quiet and the pleasant climate.

Explanation of the prices & cancellation policy

If, for whatever reason, the tenant cannot, does not want to or will not accept the rented property on the agreed date, he must immediately notify the landlord. A telephone notification of this must always be confirmed to the landlord in writing or by email. If the tenant cancels the agreement in the period up to 6 weeks before the start date of the rental period, he will continue to owe 30% of the rent; in case of cancellation up to 4 weeks 40% and from 2 weeks to the start date of the rental period 50%. If the tenant only announces on the start date or during the rental period that he will not make any use of the leased property (anymore), he will continue to owe the full rent.

In the house there is an extensive information folder with advice for trips, walks and restaurants. The Dãoregio is known for its excellent, unfortunately (?) almost unknown wines outside Portugal.
