The cottage is located in Cerdeira (Cova da Alva) in the interior of Portugal, between Porto (170km) and Lisbon (270km). The nearest large city is Coimbra (65km). Closer you will find slightly larger municipalities such as Arganil (18 km) and Tábua (23 km). The Atlantic coast with beautiful sandy beaches and cozy seaside resorts is less than 100 km from the holiday home. The cottage is located at the foot of 2 mountain ranges : Serra do Açor and Serra da Estrela. These are nature reserves with many forests, rivers and the highest peaks of Portugal.
The house is built on a rocky side of a valley. The domain has an area of 11200 m². A small river runs below, which is also the border of the domain. From the terrace you look out over the valley with a few meadows and fields.
The house is a traditional Portuguese house that was completely renovated in 2004 and equipped with every comfort. Thanks to the thick slate walls, the house remains cool in summer and warm in winter.
Next to the hall there is a spacious bathroom and 2 bedrooms. One room has a double bed, the other has 1 double bed and 1 bunk bed. So there is room for 6 people.
There is a fully equipped kitchen with refrigerator, freezer, gas stove, combi oven, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer. In the living room there is a lounge, dining table, TV and a music system. In the winter months you can light the built-in wood stove. From the living room you have direct access to a spacious terrace.
Downstairs an old cistern has been converted into a swimming pool.
In the region there are many opportunities for walking, cycling or touring by car or motorcycle. Those looking to cool down can go to various villages on the river Alva that have landscaped beaches and seaside resorts.
For a trip, the waterfalls and natural park of Fraga da Pena (7 km) are definitely recommended. There are also several traditional villages and towns that are definitely worth a visit. The cities of Porto and Coimbra are accessible for a day trip. The coast is about 100 kilometers away.
