Spacious, modern house with beautiful sea and mountain views. 2 minutes walking distance from the beach surrounded by canas. Offers peace, space and authenticity, close to golf course, lakes and tea plantations.
You rarely experience contact with Mother Earth in Europe as on the island of São Miguel. The volcanism, graceful cryptomerias silhouetted along high plains. Mirrors of water that refresh the valleys embraced by the salty air and lukewarm sun. Varied tones of green contrast against blue skies with a lost Dutch cloud here and there. Most whitewashed houses portray understated architecture, adorned with outlines of worked or custom-cut gray basalt, red roofs and small windows. Here and there a majestic edifice with Baroque portals reflects a rich historical past.
And there on the coast, surrounded by all this, is my house. In the fishing town of Porto Formoso (beautiful harbor), about 30 minutes drive from São Miguel airport, half an hour from the capital Ponta Delgada, 10 minutes from Ribeira Grande, the second city of the island and only a two minute walk from the beach "Praia dos Moinhos", with its excellent facilities such as toilets, showers and a snack bar with terrace. Close to beautiful tea plantations, where they proudly show that tea cultivation is also possible in Europe. And then the small fishing port, under the eye of the local church from 1509. Porto Formoso is a unique place in Europe.
The local population lives from fishing, animal husbandry, agriculture, milk and cheese production. At about 15 minutes by car from Porto Formoso towards Furnas, there is the golf course (72 par), on an excellent surface, which enriches the game with overwhelming backgrounds, slopes and magnificent views over the ocean.
