Casa Berbigao

You will find our house, Casa Berbigao on the car-free island of Armona. Ilha Armona is part of the Ria Formosa Natural Park with islands and sandbanks along the coast of the Eastern Algarve. From Olhao a ferry takes you to the island in 15 minutes. From the harbour, a stone walkway leads past white summer residences, built in the style of old Portuguese fishermen's houses…..on the way there are 3 mini-supermarkets, a few restaurants and bars. The rest of the island consists of miles of fine sandy beaches. You can walk here for hours, sunbathe and swim or just enjoy the blissful tranquility.Casa Berbigao is located at the end of the path, near the large beach (about 100 meters), where you will also find the restaurant Lanacosta. The other, smaller, beaches are also within walking distance of our house. If you have had enough of the peace and quiet, then the mainland is very close. The trip to Olhao is an experience in itself. With usually a gentle sea breeze you sail over calm water along and through the nature reserve. You land in the center of the city: a bustling boulevard along the quay with a bustling fish market, an old city center with a maze of narrow, mosaic-paved streets, houses with beautiful tiled facades, seafood restaurants and dozens of boats in the marina. Ilha Armona is a cure, a place that keeps out cars and the hectic life with full agendas. The island feeling and a cozy house in an environment of pure simplicity will bring you complete relaxation here. Taxi Faro airport to ferry port Olhao : 20 minutes – Eur 25,-Large supermarket Pingo Doce and all shops 5 minutes on foot from the Ferry port in Olhao. Ferry Olhao-Armona : Eur 2,- per person – duration 15 to 20 minutes. 3 mini-supermarkets and 5 restaurants on the island. Very suitable for holidays with children (no traffic and beaches very close). Little or no entertainment options on the island.

Casa Berbigao is located 100 meters from the wooden walkway over the beach. The house was completely renovated in 2021 and is equipped with every comfort. There is a cozy sitting area with lounge, radio CD, 40 inch smart TV (Netflix and satellite TV). The kitchen is fully equipped with an induction hob, oven, dishwasher, refrigerator, large freezer, coffee machine, toaster, juicer, mixer….etc. There is also a washing machine and iron in a separate small room.At the back a large sliding window (which opens 2/3) gives a pleasant outdoor feeling from the kitchen and dining room to a wooden shaded terrace, with a large outdoor table and sunbeds. In front of the house there is a second terrace with garden furniture. This always gives an extra option to sit in the front or the back depending on the wind or sun. The house has 2 bedrooms (1 room with a double bed 160 cm and 1 room with 1 bed + 1 bunk bed 90 cm) and 1 large bathroom with sink, walk-in shower and toilet. At the back is an extra house. Here you will find a 3rd bedroom (140 cm bed) and a 2nd bathroom with sink, walk-in shower and toilet. The sliding window in this bedroom also opens onto the wooden terrace.
