Monte Rosa - Lovely Family Cottage

This spacious cottage has two separate bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with two single beds. The cottage is heated with electric wall heaters. The cozy living room is furnished with a sitting area and dining table. The kitchen has a four-burner gas stove with oven, a refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. The spacious bathroom is fitted with a bathtub. The cottage has a large terrace with dining table at the front and a second terrace with sunbeds at the back. Cottage 3 can accommodate up to four adults or a family with three children.

Monte Rosa is located in the southwestern part of the Portuguese Algarve, 2 km from the authentic village of Barão de S. João, 9 km northwest of the lively historic town of Lagos on the south coast. It is an hour's drive from Faro airport and half an hour's drive from the still unspoiled west coast.

You are away from mass tourism but still close to fantastic beaches and can enjoy peace, nature and fresh air. Here you will find an ideal base for walking and cycling. Monte Rosa covers 4 hectares of rolling terrain, with many old almond, olive and fig trees. A number of old farmhouses have been renovated in rustic style, in which we offer attractive, well-kept accommodation.

All units have a private bathroom, with shower or bath. There are rooms for 1, 2 or 3 people and a few fully equipped apartments, suitable for 4 to 7 people. Some have their own kitchenette or kitchen, while others share outdoor cooking facilities. All this is surrounded by a colorful garden, with various paths, terraces and cozy sitting areas, chairs, sun loungers and hammocks. Everyone can use the BBQ.

Guests are welcome in the common room with large terrace, which also serves as a restaurant. There is a swimming pool (5 x 10m), which is located in the middle of the quiet land. You can also swim in the evening with the romantic underwater lighting. You can relax on the sun loungers and in the hammocks.

Every day you can use a breakfast service (not included) in the form of a buffet with lots of fresh fruit, juice, Greek yogurt, muesli and sandwiches with delicious cheeses and homemade jams. Our chickens provide the fresh eggs. With registration of at least 4 guests, a 3-course dinner can be arranged. At the reception you can book a massage or ask for advice about the many possibilities for excursions (e.g. a dolphin tour) and sports activities. Everyone can use the walking folder with 35 route descriptions. Bicycles and surfboards are also available for rent. 

Monte Rosa is an ideal place for children. The environment is inviting to explore, build huts, etc. There are cats to pet and chickens that lay delicious fresh eggs for us. The beautiful round room (The Round House) with heating in the loam plastered round wall, is used for yoga, dance, massages and other activities. Through the large windows (with double glazing) you have a fantastic view over the grape fields. This space can also be rented to organize your own workshop, training, reunion or other activity. Various yoga classes take place every week .

At Monte Rosa you can especially enjoy peace and quiet and being outside. It is an ideal place to relax. Our intention is to offer a relaxed atmosphere in which you can recover from the hustle and bustle that many experience in daily life. We would like to be a meeting place for everyone, regardless of background. The terrace at the common room often turns out to be the center of a cozy and casual get-together in the evening.

We attach great importance to dealing with nature ecologically and being careful with what it produces. Waste is separated on site. We have our own vegetable and herb garden, which has been laid out according to the principles of permaculture. The hot water supply is fully solar-powered.
