South Limburg is of course known for its beautiful hilly landscape. Here you can enjoy walking, cycling, or day trips by car. There are many beautiful villages, with here and there the well-known half-timbered houses. Worth a visit in all seasons. A number of suggestions: Valkenburg with the caves (who doesn't know it??), Vijlen (the highest mountain village in the Netherlands, with the Vijlner forest and the famous catering business 't hijgend hert), Epen (and a beautiful landscape), Aachen (just across the border, with beautiful buildings, plenty of shops and the Dom), Vaals (including the three-country point), the Gaia Zoo near Kerkrade, the Brunssummerheide etc. It is a region where you can easily do something different every day for a week! If you want to sit comfortably and be pampered: then there is of course more than enough catering in the Burgundian South Limburg!
Don't forget the atmospheric Christmas markets, where you can be in no time: Valkenburg and Aachen. Really worth a visit! If you want to drive a little further, it is certainly nice to go to Monschau or Maastricht.
If you have any questions, we will be happy to answer them. Welcome to Butterflies!
