On foot or by bike / car to the gulls nesting and bog area Zwillbrockerveen ( D ) . In Zwillbrock , border town , Germany . Nature reserve, including a magnificent baroque church . Also in the vicinity the Biological Station Zwillbrock . Distance : + / – 7 km .
The clay pits , until 1975 clay was taken from the Leemputten for making bricks and tiles . Now it is a unique nature reserve through which an adventurous trail runs . Distance : Distance : + / – 1 km .
The Bekendelle is a favorite destination of Winterswijk for a walk. You can walk along the banks of the meandering Upper Slinge and after the walk and sit down in the atmospheric restaurant Berenschots Watermolen . And you can start the ten mile hike “Route Bekendelle ” . Starting point : restaurant Berenschots Watermolen, Wooldseweg 74 , Winterswijk . Distance : + / – 18 km .
The wooded Lochemer Mountain belongs with the Bald Mountain and the intervening fields and hedgerows to a 171 acre nature of Geldersch Landscape Foundation . At the top of the Lochemse Mountain is a round tower dating from 1893 which are no longer accessible . Starting point : Parking Lochemseweg 37 , 7244 RR Lochem , in addition HCR Bon’Aparte . Distance : + / – 18 km .

Walking/hiking
Ruurlo maze, near the castle. Largest maze in the Netherlands, dating from 1891. Very nicely located. Distance: + / – 18 km.
Guided tour through the Vragender and / or Korenburgerveen. Two nature reserves, in Vragender and Winterswijk. Information and reservations are available through the tourist office in Lichtenvoorde Distance: + / – 8.5 miles

Historic steam sawmill with museum Nahuis. Operating on steam. Groenlo. Only a few times a year in operation (check well in advance regarding the limited opening days). Distance: + / – 1km.
Hamalandmuseum Vreden (D). The museum consists of two parts. The museum tells the cultural history of the West Munster country. 10 farms can be visited. Distance: + / – 15 km.
Borculo, one of the two fire museums in the Netherlands. Firefighters museum Distance: + / – 16 km.
City Museum Groenlo. Mainly about the 80-year war. Distance: + / – 2.5 miles
A compelling and unique multimedia show in the medieval Old Calixtuskerk in Groenlo. Experience the siege and conquest in 1627 of the old fortified city Grol. Come face to face with the famous general and stadtholder Frederick Henry. Distance: + / – 3.5 km
