Tips:
At the Sonneclaer organic farm opposite Hoeve Koeweide, you can view the farm and the animals. New: the cows are milked on the farm by a milking robot. Nice to see! The children can play in the Hooi-Hooi play barn or in the playground and everyone can enjoy a delicious homemade farm ice cream on the terrace!

At Paviljoen Nijstad you can eat, drink and enjoy the beach. Paviljoen Nijstad is a contemporary restaurant on the beach of Hoogeveen. Here you can enjoy the water all year round. A unique place.

From the Veurhuis you can enjoy the beauty that nature has to offer by bike or on foot. But you can also enjoy nature, peace and space in the former sheep pasture or from the hunting lodge. There is a folder full of information about walking and cycling routes and excursions ready for you.

The old, authentic 5-star village Echten is 1.5 km away. There is still an old turf hut and Havezathe Huize Echten. The Loek de Roek experience trail is definitely worth it.

The National Parks Dwingelderveld (the largest wet heath area in Europe with its many fens, forests, juniper berries, esdorpens, burial mounds), the Weerribben/Wieden (with many unique birds and special villages including Giethoorn, Dwarsgracht, Blokzijl, Kalenberg and Ossenzijl) and the Drents-Friese Wold can be reached within half an hour by car.

Go for a walk or cycle on the large, quiet heath, where the shepherd walks around with his flock of grazing sheep and take a look inside a sheepfold. Rent a canoe or whisper boat and sail through the Weerribben. Giethoorn is a destination not to be missed, but Muggebeet and Dwarsgracht are just as beautiful and not nearly as busy. The cycling route "the Jonen ferry" is highly recommended! Approx. 32km.
Or visit the dolmens in Havelte and see the multicolored butterflies in the butterfly paradise museum Papiliorama in Darp.

There is also a lot of culture and history to admire and experience in Drenthe. Including beautiful authentic green villages, Havezathen, dolmens, Dolmen Center in Borger, museum village Orvelte, Westerbork Remembrance Center, the Colonies of Benevolence in Frederiksoord and Veenhuizen, National Prison Museum in Veenhuizen. There is also a lot to do in Drenthe for children. You don't have to look far to find a beautiful swimming lake, for example at Paviljoen Nijstad near Echten or enjoy a swim in a lake in the middle of nature!
Drenthe's nature is one big playground. the various adventure trails and play forests provide even more experience. You can find them in the folder.
There are also museums for children and amusement parks. Wildlands Adventure Zoo in Emmen, the Drouwenerzand amusement park in Drouwen, the Sprookjeshof in Zuidlaren, Plopsaland in Coevorden, etc. etc. The perfect combination between nature and adventure.
