I am 67 years old and I have worked in education for thirty years as a French teacher and as a school leader. I am mainly involved in the maintenance of the garden and the farm. The organic vegetable garden and fruit trees are my passion. I like to bring guests something from the garden. We try to take nature into account in our actions. We do not use pesticides. We offer privacy, tranquility and nature.

The Hondsrug area is unique. The ice ages were there ridges and valleys. Prehistoric man left there after our treasures. For thousands of years people have given shape to a landscape that is timeless.
The Hondsrug UNESCO Global Geopark is greater than the Hondsrug alone. It consists of a system of parallel ridges in the landscape, separated by stream valleys of each other. The Hondsrug area runs from the center of Groningen in the north to the fortified town Coevorden and Bargerveen under Emmen on the south side. Besides the sand ridges make the stream valleys of the Drentsche Aa and the Hunze large part of the area. The area has a length of seventy kilometers and an average width of twenty kilometers. The highest point - in Emmen - is thirty meters above sea level. The area stretches over two provinces - Drenthe and Groningen - where seven churches located in Groningen, Haren, Tynaarlo, Aa en Hunze, Borger-Odoorn, Emmen and Coevorden. Spread over an area of ??nearly 1,000 km2 live 240,000 people.
Has by November 2015 throughout the region the status of UNESCOGlobal Geopark is the only Geopark in the Netherlands. Northern Netherlands adorned it with two UNESCO World Heritage sites (Wadden Sea and Woudagemaal) and several National Parks on the list of places with international allure. A special role is played by National Park Drentsche Aa almost entirely located in the Geoparkgebied.
