Casa Barbabella

Would you like to be sure of a lovely spot for the spring or summer of 2024? Casa Barbabella is a beautifully situated L-shaped country house in Saliceto, 'The Gate of De Langhe', in Piedmont on the border with the Riviera of Flowers and the Mediterranean Sea.
Key words are: atmospheric, comfort and freedom.

A lovely house with a positive vibe, in the hills and centrally located for the beach and sea, major cities of Genoa and Turin and towns such as Cuneo, Alba and Asti.

- Casa Barbabella is an attractive detached house centrally located in the hills of Southern Piedmont on the border with Liguria; is located on a hill, overlooking hills with unobstructed views of a village with supermarket, cafes and restaurants, half an hour from the Mediterranean Sea.

- the house is furnished for comfort; 2 bathrooms, 2 bedrooms (1 room with 2 luxurious box spring beds and a double bunk bed and the 'master bedroom' with 2 luxurious king-size beds), spacious living room and separate 'chill spot' on the landing upstairs, large kitchen with dishwasher, new washing machine and WIFI.

- for the children there are many toys and a WII inside. Outside there is a spacious splash pool, outdoor shower, trampoline and diving rack. For adults there is plenty of space with nice places inside and outside with comfortable furniture, fully equipped kitchen, lots of books and DVDs (and Chromecast for your own Netflix, for example).

Detailed description:
The house is located near a village, 1/2 hour from the sea. Casa Barbabella offers you comfort in a detached and authentic Piedmontese holiday home with beautiful unobstructed views.

Casa Barbabella is located in Saliceto (Cuneo) on the border of the Flower Riviera (Liguria) and Piedmont in Italy. The former farm has been almost completely rebuilt and will be ready for use from summer 2012. Every year we make improvements for comfort.

The 130m2 house is in a quiet location with unobstructed views all around. It has a pleasant layout, has two floors, two bathrooms, is detached and is located near the village. Casa Barbabella is 'pet free'.

We have focused on creating a comfortable holiday accommodation, both indoors and outdoors. Sleeping well is important, especially on holiday, so we have invested in wonderful beds and mattresses. There are 8 sleeping places, 2 baby cots and an extra folding bed can be placed according to your own wishes. Several terraces offer plenty of choice in the sun or in the shade, in the sun lounger or in the hammock...

If the kids are having a good time, you're having a good time too, right? That is why we have placed many toys and a WII inside. Outside, a splash pool, outdoor shower, sandpit, diving rack and mega trampoline are real attractions.

Near the house there is a beautiful public outdoor swimming pool and a nice playground with football field. There is a reservoir nearby, nice (wine) towns and villages and of course the Mediterranean Sea is half an hour's drive away.

Since 2005 we have been regularly in Piemonte with friends. We soon fell for the beautiful region with the rugged mountains, lovely vineyards and wonderful Italian coast. And all this at excellent distances, with the car trips offering something different every time. After a long search we fell for a ruin...and this one has been ready since the summer of 2012! Our whole family now enjoys it intensely: the space, the comfort and the diversity of activities to undertake.

Location & area recommendations

Additional information

The house has unobstructed views of the village which is a 2-minute drive away.

The village has 1500 inhabitants and has everything you need for basic necessities: a supermarket, a pizzeria and a 'ristorante', two bars and a pharmacy.

Worth mentioning is a cafe, playground and a playing field with goals to play football or basketball, which is collectively called 'Area Verde'.

Saliceto has a rich history of Knights Templar of which the castle is still a remnant and two churches. The buildings look imposing although somewhat dilapidated.
On the border with another village, Camerana, a 5 minute drive away is a super clean public outdoor pool with stunning views.
There is also a train connection across the village (5 minutes drive) to the north (Turin) and to the south (Savona).

In the immediate vicinity in Liguria are Cengio (with the best ice cream in the region) and Millessimo. These are larger villages with large supermarkets, restaurants and nice sights. In Piemonte, the nearby villages of Monesiglio and Prunetto are worth a visit for their castle and castle.

A hiking/mountain bike trail runs along the boundary of the property's land and leads into the village or further into the mountains.

Piedmont

The still authentic Piedmontese towns of Alba (nice Saturday morning market), Acqui Terme (thermal baths) and Asti (super nice old center with cooperative market) are just over an hour's drive away.

Strolling, tasting and buying local delicacies and eating and drinking on the terrace is endless. Be sure to get there around noon for lunch!

The well-known wine regions/villages of Piedmont, Barolo and Barbaresco, are a 45-minute drive away. In the wide area are wineries that sell beautiful local wines. Piedmont is known for its delicious pure food and drink. In the vicinity of the house are numerous nice restaurants that serve delicious dishes at low prices.

Liguria (Riviera of Flowers)

20 minutes from the house is a small reservoir (Lago d'Osiglia) where you can enjoy swimming, rowing or pedal boating. Also tasty and fun for lunch!

A visit to the beach is highly recommended. The beach of the Riviera of Flowers on the Mediterranean Sea of Savona is half an hour's drive away and that of Noli or Spotorno is more than half an hour's drive away.
Savona is a large town with a harbor which is not a very nice seaside resort, but has a nice center. Spotorno and Noli are exactly as you imagine a real Italian coastal town: nice tents, strolling Italians and delicious ice cream places. The village center of Noli is beautiful.

A little further is Cinque Terre (Unesco World Heritage). Five 'hanging' villages on the rocks above the sea. The official name is the Gulf of Genoa and extends from Monaco to Genoa. A car trip to the East or West is therefore definitely worth it!

The caves of Toirano are also located on the coast.

Genoa is good for a day trip. The city has a nice historic center, a beautiful viewpoint above the city where you can come with a small cable car and an attractive historic harbor.
A trip to the wine villages of Barolo and Barbaresco is more than worth it; the nebbiolo grape refers to the fog banks in which the tendrils stand in autumn. During this time of harvest you can see the raindrops on the large dark blue grapes in huge bunches. Or a gleam of a faint autumn sun breaking through the fog. Really wonderful!
In the summer a tour on the Vespa ?? is really fantastic; choose your own route, through the valleys and hills and a different view from all sides. With lunch and a drink in Barolo itself.
Of course you can also taste in the various wineries an hour's drive through this beautiful area De Langhe. Where Casa Barbara is located at the southernmost tip of.
Visit to Marchesi di Gresy in Barbaresco and Cascine Delle Rose.
Cuneo is also called 'little Turin'. A beautiful place with arcades, squares and a nice intimate atmosphere.
A nice lake where you can walk, swim and canoe.
Making a tour through the Barolo region with the Vespa is really a very special experience!
