Casa in Bocca al Lupo

In the hills of the Langhe / Piedmont in Italy lies this panoramic holiday paradise, in the middle of the vineyards of the world's most famous wines and with a view of the Alps. This area, which produces the famous Barolo wine and is known for the white truffle, is a mecca in the culinary field. Partly because of this, the area has earned a place on the Unesco World Heritage List!

With a total of three apartments, this complex is ideal for relaxing, while the picturesque villages, major cities (Turin, Genoa),  Alps and the Riviera of Flowers are very easily accessible. This large apartment UNO (approx. 85 m2) is located in a completely renovated farmhouse with a spacious garden, located on the ground floor and therefore also suitable for people who have difficulty walking. Through a private entrance you open the door of this unique apartment: a great combination of an authentic space with contemporary comfort. Vaulted ceilings, which are traditionally so typical in this region, but with a sleek cast floor and solar water heaters for hot water! The apartment is suitable for a maximum of 6 people and has the following layout:

  • Kitchen with dishwasher, hob, combination microwave, kettle, toaster and fridge.
  • a new bathroom with shower and toilet.
  • Two spacious bedrooms, which have new box spring beds.
  • a living room with a luxury sofa bed and television (with a.o. Dutch channels).
  • Air conditioners available for cooling and heating.
  • Charging stations (pay afterwards according to consumption)

Of course, the apartment has a covered outdoor terrace with a fixed barbecue and you can use the swimming pool with relax chairs and an outdoor shower. For communal use there is a parking space, and there are some sun terraces.

Although Piedmont has many well-known areas, the Langhe is one of the more famous. A hilly region bordering the wide valley of the Po with great views of the Alps. The Langhe is best known for its culinary delicacies, with the Barolo wine and the white truffle as eye-catchers. It is a piece of Italy as it should be. The Langhe offers space, is not yet overrun with tourism, unspoiled nature, the region is pure, honest and it is very affordable. The residents of the Langhe are friendly and helpful. The village of Clavesana has many borgatas, but has a central supermarket, a bar, several restaurants and a large Cantina with good wines. Due to its location on the Tanaro River with the imposing Calanchi (chalk cliffs) and with the high hills full of vines and hazelnut trees, it is wonderful to stay there. Life is slow but almost excessively good and approaches -in our opinion- the typical Italian Dolce Vita.  The world-famous towns and cities of Barolo, Alba, Bra, Mondovi and Cuneo are easily accessible, but also Turin, Genoa, the Alps and the Flower Riviera can be reached after about an hour's drive. With major events such as the International White Truffle Fair in Alba, the Collezione music festival in Alba, Monforte Jazz, Grasso Bue (meat) in Carru and then the many village festivals in the summer, there is always something to do!

We are Anja Zwarthoed and Kees van den Berge, the owners of Casa in Bocca al Lupo; together with our daughter Liz, we realized the renovation with great care and dedication. After falling in love with the Langhe during a holiday, we returned many times and in all seasons to discover our dream spot. We can now call ourselves experts of the area and are happy to help with all questions about the area.

Additional information

A nice neighboring village, where you can often find fun in the evening. An ice cream on the terrace, while the fellow villagers get together... Wonderful Italian atmosphere.
Alba, with a large market every Saturday, is a lively and pleasant town on the banks of the River Tanaro. Many beautiful shops, lovely terraces and a multitude of (star) restaurants. Do you have time to spare? Visit nearby Barbaresco and Neive (Alto).
