Benvenuto a Bolsena, the town from which Lake Bolsena owes its name. The lake is of volcanic origin, therefore it is very deep and very clean. The most important city on the lake shines with its simplicity and modesty. Here you will find the long street that runs through the Centro Storico with small shops where the local entrepreneurs sell their authentic products. In the castle of Bolsena, from the fourteenth century, is a city museum. A boulevard runs alongside the lake and is closed for car traffic on Sunday afternoons, so that everyone can stroll along the water. Because a typical Italian Sunday is all about family, eating, seeing and being seen. Along the boulevard and in the town there are numerous restaurants where both fish from the lake and from the sea are on the menu. Bolsena is a bustling town, with a long summer full of events. From the feasts of Saint Cristina (July 23 and 24), where various scenes from the life of the saint are re-enacted, to a hydrangea festival in June, which envelops the city in the scent of hundreds of hydrangeas, to various concerts, street food festivals and the Giro d'Italia for vintage bicycles. There is a lot to do in the area. The Via Francigena pilgrim path that runs from Canterbury to Rome crosses Bolsena. A beautiful walking route. There are also hot springs in various places in the area. Saturnia is a beautiful place, here is the Cascate del Mulino.
