Villa Tenang Tenang | live the rhythm of Bali | A touch of resort living
This is not a villa from which you view Bali. Here you live in the middle of it.
Rumah Tenang Tenang is located in traditional Bali, surrounded by rice paddies, a river and a lush garden. The open living space brings the tropics close: the morning mist over the fields, a warm afternoon breeze, rain that suddenly erupts and evenings in which the sounds of the village and nature form the backdrop.
Ceremonies take place in the area that are not performed for visitors, but are part of daily Balinese life. Those who stay here will have the opportunity to experience these traditions up close with respect.
At the same time, there is room for comfort. Start the day with breakfast at the boutique hotel next to the villa, sit down for lunch or dinner, or simply have it delivered to the villa. For example, staying here sometimes feels like a private home, sometimes like relaxed resort living — but always at your own pace.
Charlie, the dog, and cats Pien and Puma also belong to the house. They are independent, beloved residents; The Villa Staff takes care of them, but those who want to get temporary villa friends.
For travelers who are not looking for a Bali backdrop, but for a place where Bali can actually be felt.
Most villas keep the tropics out. We let them in. The living space is open, so you can feel the cool morning, hear the afternoon rain coming and smell the garden after a shower. In the rainy season, everything turns deep green. In the dry season, the rice fields turn golden. You notice the difference, and that is exactly the intention.
From the terrace you look out over the rice fields in the valley to the river. The garden is cared for daily and has plenty of shaded areas for reading, napping or just sitting. After a hot day, dive into the pool.
The house can accommodate up to 6 guests. All bedrooms have air conditioning, if you prefer to sleep a little cooler at night. This is our own home, for 20 years. Comfortable, private and well looked after. Only in the middle of the real Bali.
For those who want to combine work and Bali, there is also a separate office with two nice workplaces and high-speed internet. A quiet place for a video call, a few concentrated hours or simply to finish something with a view of the tropics.
Real village life
Blayu is a traditional village, far from the tourist crowds. Ceremonies take place here because they matter to the community, not because there is an audience. Offerings, processions, gamelan music in the evening. If you are curious and respectful, you will see a side of Bali that most visitors never come close to. Our staff will be happy to tell you what is going on and how to connect in the right way.
There is also a lot to discover outside the ceremonies. Walk or cycle through the countryside, passing rice paddies just as impressive as those of Tegalalang, but without queues and souvenir shops. Choose one of the many routes through the area, learn to make Balinese offerings yourself or treat yourself to a wonderful massage. We are happy to help you arrange a walk, bike ride, workshop or treatment.
A touch of resort living
Fancy a lazy morning? The boutique hotel next door serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Just walk in or have it delivered to the villa. Village life with room service, not a bad combination.
Meet Charlie, Pien and Puma
Dog Charlie and the cats Pien and Puma live at the house. They are friendly, independent and are fully looked after by our villa staff. So you don't have to do anything. Still, most guests have a new favorite after a few days.
Carefree stay
Our permanent staff takes care of cleaning the house every day. Linen is changed weekly and your laundry can be taken to a local laundry for you. A gardener comes by every two weeks for the bigger work.
Safe and quiet
The village is a close-knit community where everyone knows each other. The hotel next door has security at night and the village has its own night watchman. And Charlie will let you know immediately if someone is at the gate.
