Villa

Villa Sarah Nafi, North Bali Lovina

A special holiday accommodation for nature and culture lovers in the quiet hills bordering the coast of North Bali. A lot of care has been taken in construction and furnishings. There are numerous Indonesian and historical details in the decoration of the house and local elements have been used as much as possible.

The tourist highlights of North Bali and everyday life in the immediate area - not yet affected by mass tourism - are close by. The area around Tigawasa is known for its traditional - and very sustainable - bamboo production and industry. From Villa Sarah Nafi you can experience this up close. The famous black sand beach of Lovina can be reached in about 45 minutes on foot. By car or scooter it is only a 15-minute drive.

Villa Sarah Nafi is located on a wooded slope and is surrounded by a private garden of a quarter of an acre, in which we offer as much space as possible to the original vegetation. On one side this garden (partly secondary jungle) borders a deeply eroded river valley with bamboo forests.

The house offers two to four guests a comfortable stay. There is a small staff consisting of three very dedicated employees: the housekeeper/cook, the gardener and the night watchman. Our housekeeper's cooking is praised!

Next to the house there is a small service house with facilities for the staff, and several terraces with pergolas that provide shade and privacy. There is a swimming pool for a cool dip or swimming laps. There is also a small work/study house with a view over the sea, a Gazebo (or Bale Bengong) for lazing around or for a traditional Balinese massage; a house for the swimming pool installation and a parking terrace for cars or scooter(s).

House and garden are an ideal place to relax and get to know rural life in North Bali up close. Enjoy beautiful sunsets in the Balinese sea with - on clear days - the contours of the Javanese volcano Baluran. This spectacle is often accompanied by the enchanting sounds of (gamelan) music or music from the villages in the valley.

The homes of our Balinese neighbors are hidden in nature on the hill and there is one other holiday home.

A place for those seeking peace and quiet who really want to catch their breath. Additional facilities that our guests can use: a well-stocked library with extensive literature and information about Bali and Indonesia and a choice of relaxing literary works (Dutch, English, German). In addition, the fastest possible internet connection has been installed with its own separate antenna that 'picks up' the signal directly from a digital beam transmitter. A special attraction are the tough walks through the hills and villages with our gardener Pastika as a guide.

Location & area recommendations

Additional information

Villa Sarah Nafi is located in the town of Tiga Wasa. This covers a large area in the hills south of Lovina. The municipality covers 1690 hectares and had 5,500 inhabitants in 2010. The population consists mainly of Bali Aga, an ethnic group to the original and oldest (Hindu) residents of Bali is counted. The Bali Aga, however, give a specific own interpretation of their faith. They also speak a language that is different from the Balinese.

The residents live Built in scattered in the hills, most quite modest homes and in some small centers. They live off agriculture and livestock. Clove and bamboo are important sources of income. Bamboo is harvested in and around the river valleys and in domestic work made into mats, baskets and other utensils. The bamboo basketry from Tiga Wasa is well known and very hot in Bali to be of very good quality.

The main core is the actual village of Tiga Wasa, so from Villa Sarah Nafi seen slightly south to the west, a few kilometers away in the hills across the river valley that runs along the property. The village is on the hills accessible only on foot from the villa (about 1.5 hours) or to reach a scooter (about 20 minutes). Through the plains and turn right after the western gateway (dolphins port) to Lovina, in Temukus, however, is an excellent way into the hills passing through the village.

Walking from the villa are both directional Tiga Wasa as downhill direction Kaliasem (Lovina) to find a few small familiewarungs. It's nice there occasionally buy some and good for the local economy. They sell a basic range of products on behalf of the residents in the area. Water, drinks, snacks, cigarettes, soap, etc. can be found and sometimes a simple meal.

From Tiga Wasa is also to visit the Sing Sing waterfall
