The host, Luc

Micazu member since October 2013

Some years ago I got this house; Tanya (farmhouse) purchased with the intention of ever going to live myself. If I can, I go there, to work on the house. I try as much as possible to maintain the original atmosphere, but more comfortable.
Currently I made the former smoking room into a second bathroom, equipped for wheelchair users.
Feel free to enjoy the peace and beautiful nature that Hungary has to offer in my house.

Additional information

The house is situated in the northern foothills of the Mecsek Mountains. If you go early or walk when the sun goes down, and you're very quiet deer, boars, foxes, ... encounter, also all kinds of small raptors still fly freely around here. These "mountains", actually are more hills, lying between Lake Balaton and the Croatian border. This Mecsek Mountains is 9,361 hectares, of which 1180 ha protected area is. In this area you can enjoy hiking, mountain biking, hunting and fishing. Horseback riding is also one of the many possibilities. Nearby are several riding schools where you can get lessons or part of a day with a group can take a ride through the beautiful nature. Around the park there are several lovely and charming villages. Life is still good-humored here! It is normal for people with horse (donkey) and carriage coming down the street, but they also drive the latest cars! The Mecsek is a crest of 50km long, and 10 to 20 km wide. The highest point is 683 m. Climatological seen one of the nicest areas of Hungary, with a sub-Mediterranean climate. Right in the mountains just outside Magyaregregy is the Máré Vár (Marien Castle); the foundations are more than 2000 years ago laid by the Romans. It is built in a 13th century Gothic style but in the 16th century, this renovated in a Renaissance style. In the former knight's castle were at the times of the Turkish occupation stationed Ottoman troops and sentries. Until 1960 the castle has been abandoned and is then restored. The castle can be visited for a small fee. The drawbridge is an ingenious system to collapse the bridge, which dates from Roman times. Nearby is an outdoor pool, run by Dutch. Just south of the mountains lies the provincial capital of Pécs (fünfkirchen) This Mediterranean city is chosen as Cultural Capital of Europe in 2010, and has a center which is partially included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Pécs is the regional center of the region of South Transdanubia. In this 5th in terms of population, in terms of functions 2nd city of Hungary with around 162,000 inhabitants, all for hands that you can think of, comparable to Belgium and the Netherlands. After the region of Budapest and Lake Balaton Pécs is the biggest tourist trekpleiser of Hungary - and for good reason. There are many nights instead, both domestic and foreign tourists, as well as (Croatian) travelers passing through, now on the intersection of two routes to nearby Croatia is located. The Mediterranean atmosphere is everywhere noticeable in Pecs, in particular the many sunny terraces. Various trips are making in Pecs, including in addition to many museums and exhibition center to the TV tower, with stunning views over the city, the county Baranya, far in Croatia, the zoo, a playground, the weekly Sunday market ( the largest in Hungary), several lakes, and do not forget the wine cellars of Pécs. More information about Pécs ao by: http://www.pecs.hu/ The southern location of this area and the warm currents from the Mediterranean is here almost a Mediterranean sea climate. This makes it very convenient to grow wine in the region also are several wine routes you can drive. A little further south is the Baranya and Villány Mountains, with the famous wine region where excellent white Chardonnay and red port wines maakt. In near Villany can be wine tasting, visit wine cellars and there is a nice limestone quarry. Not only there, but also some of our fellow villagers themselves have vines and thus make their own wine, very tasty !! Are you a fisherman? You will certainly be attracted in Hungary! The Hungarians are also fond of fish (and fish, Hungarian fish soup is delicious !!). There are so very many fishing lakes in the region. In Hungary are two types of ponds, lakes, private and public fishing lakes. Do you want to fish in public fishing lakes can be found in the village where the fishing lake is buy a fishing license (for a day or several days). Do you want to fish in one of the private lakes, you paid per kilogram of fish caught. Hungary is famous for its many thermal baths. The very modern spa Sikonda (Komló, near Pécs), Tamasi, and the spa of Magyarhertelend, Dombovar (Gunaras), and many others, small thermal springs (including Bonyhad and Szekszard) are worth to visit, and the costs almost nothing. The hot water is good for various medical problems, including arthritis. Want more info on this please check the web sites of the spas. Other attractions: Orfü, 10km above Pécs, with its four lakes and a large openluchtpretbad, is one of the most attractive tourist places nearby: Tennis courts, mini golf, table tennis, swimming, horseback riding, water slides. Rental bikes, kayaks, sailboats, surfboards and paddle boats. Very much for fishing. (Fishing license can be picked up at Arkados Restaurant in downtown Orfü). Excursions on foot, horseback or bike around the lakes. Carriage rides, Mill Museum, Nature Reserve on the "Otto Herman" more. Panoramic view (with restaurant) in Pécs and surroundings from radio tower atop hill, at the small lake. In the neighboring village of Orfu; Abaliget is a very beautiful cave but you can also fishing and rowing or pedal boats on the two lakes. Abaliget (650 inh.) Is located in the Mecsek. Very expansive nature with forests, streams, waterfalls and the four lakes of Orfu within walking distance. Very leisure activities including hiking, cycling, mountain biking, miniature golf, swimming, fishing, tennis, etc. In winter cross country skiing, when the snow is a small ski slope even just 10 km. This cave was discovered in 1768, lies about 220 meters above sea level and has a length of less than 500 meters. A trail in the cave goes along an underground river. By dripping water down there liberate freakish figures in the cave. It seems that a visit to this cave has a therapeutic value for people with bronchitis seems a visit to have a facilitating effect. The caves are among the finest in Europe. In the former youth hostel next to the cave is located now a center bats. The bats seem to spend the winter in the many caves in this area. The exhibition tells about the life of the bat and its migration patterns across Europe. The museum has just opened and if it is good information coming soon available in English. Mohács, a nice town on the Danube is located near the Croatian border. Mohács is a historic town, which is primarily known for the Battle of Mohács (1526), ??when the Hungarian army was defeated by the Ottomans and that half century Turkish domination came to Hungary. This battle took place just south of Mohacs, and the village Sátorhely (even for the Croatian border) is a Memorial Park in honor of these events. The current Mohács is a modern place with a nice shopping center with a shopping mall, a few historical buildings near the bank of the Danube and a striking city hall and church, which clearly have Turkish characteristics and are erected in honor of the 400th anniversary of Stroke. Here you can take a ferry to cross the Danube. Püspökszentlászló can be reached from the village of Hosszúhetény. The village is situated up in the mountains of the Mecsek. It is a lovely village surrounded by nature, you can visit a castle and a botanical garden. If you love hiking is the inclusion of walking shoes a must! After parking the car at the beginning of the village, walk to the other side of the village. From here you can take a leisurely stroll through the Mecsek Mountains. A hike to the highest point, Mount "Zengo" should not be missed. It's a long walk but definitely worth it. On top of the mountain you will find a kind of lighthouse and offers views over the whole area! We recommend that you take a good hiking to avoid getting lost. In this region one has lived in the old days of mining. In some villages, it still marks, and sometimes one has a small mining museum (Bányamúzeum). This has been museum arranged at the beginning of an old mine shaft. Dombovar: Thermal bath and swimming pool with slides and lake for rowing and canoeing. Meagmany: valley, waterfall. Harkany: spa, market and regular pool. Siklos: thermal baths, one beautiful castle and shops. Zselic: An 18-hole golf course Zalakaros: 3 pools of 96 degrees Tamasi, thermal baths, game park Szekszard castle and wine area of ??1,600 hectares. Kaposvár: the Pannon Equine Academy is one of the best schools in the country in terms of jumping and figure skating. Since early 2006, near Pécs a kind of children's amusement park (Mecsextrem). If you want more info about this park, you can check out the site: http://www.mecsextrem.hu/index_req.php east of the beautiful city of Szekszárd is the 50,000 hectare game reserve, this is the largest reserve of Hungary. Nature fans came to the right. There are many backwaters creeks and islands. These islands are inhabited by several species of rare birds such as eagles, black storks, herons, egrets, and waterfowl. Also you get if you're lucky with the finest deer antlers of the country against. This reserve provides a good picture of how the Danube there was once looked like. You can visit this protected area only by boat or by train. One or recommends that the inclusion of mosquito oil is not a luxury. Let this put you, visit this sanctuary is highly recommended. To view the Mecsek area from the air than is possible using a glider, parachute or a sightseeing flight. Near the town Ocsény (near Szekszárd) is a small airport where you can make sightseeing flights with a sports plane. You can enjoy the vineyards, the Mecsek or Gemenc area. The flights take about 12 minutes. These flights can be made in the morning or afternoon and can then more than 12 people (more people to fly with the lower the cost per person will be) Do not forget your camera to take pictures of this experience !! Do not want to fly but watch the sport airplanes can have that too! Website http://www.ocseny-airfield.hu/en/informations/club_info/club_info.html In Hungary airport is an abundance of wildlife and therefore it is really a hunter country. Do you want to practice clay pigeon shooting that is possible; Bonyhád is a store with hunter articles, they can arrange this for you. You will get 25 targets and bullets, allows you to shoot about a half hour. Address of the store: Szecheny to 11 Bonyhád. Kakasd: Central to the village is a beautiful church from the 13th century. The church is partially made of wood and is adjacent to the library. The boundary between the library and the church is somewhat unclear.
