The city is located 2 km from the cottage. Via the coastal road to get here. Here you will find all the medical facilities and shops. Tourist shops you will not encounter here. The trademarks and vegetable market on Saturday is a special experience. You are here about the only foreigner so you Greek hospitality here in particular can experience. Expect no menu in English, but the waiter is waiting for you to explain everything organized. The city offers plenty of entertainment for an attractive price level. PP did you eat and drink well for 10 euros! In summer Egio has a wine festival with many activities, among others in the local amphitheater but also in surrounding villages. Due to the central location you can reach many tourist hotspots with a car within hours. These include Athens, the Corinth Canal, Olympia, Nafpaktos, the picturesque island of Trizonia and Delphi. The town has two marinas, one with a sailing school.
Egio located at the foot of a rugged mountain range with peaks over 1900 m. In the immediate vicinity are six wine producers with excellent wines. Are you sporty set, grab a mountain bike and ride up a slope to enjoy a fantastic view of the blue waters of the Gulf. By car you are in a tree in a totally different area. Surprise yourself in a dorpstaverna in one of the mountain villages.
During a sailing holiday we, Henriette Coppens and Gijs van Kemenade in 1989, met our Greek friends Nikos Halkiopoulos and Lina met Panoutsou. Since that time there has been a close friendship developed with many holidays in Greece, France, Italy and The Netherlands. The idea was born during the summer of 2015 to rent a cottage on the beach of Aliki.
