The historic center of the city is located on a beautiful mountain ridge. The old castle ruins can be reached on foot in a few minutes. The historic city center with the special panoramic views and the center of the city with various restaurants, cafes and entertainment venues can be reached on foot within 15-20 minutes. There are also all kinds of shopping opportunities in the center. The city also offers various cultural opportunities, such as the Sauerland museum and a theater. A supermarket can be reached within 1 km downhill.
In the wider area there are also all kinds of opportunities for water sports at various lakes (Möhnesee and Sorpesee 10-15 km) and winter sports (Wildewiese and Winterberg, 30-60 km).
