"Die rote Ente" is a typical old farmhouse from around 1900 as you see a lot in the Eifel, located on the main street on the outskirts of Mürlenbach. Across the road is the River Kyll, a very popular spot for fly fishermen because of its excellent fishing waters. Fishing licenses can also be obtained from us.
From the terrace you look out over the valley, the road and the river, and further into the village the ancient Bertrada castle, the birthplace of Charlemagne, King of the Franks and later Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire (year 747-814). The Bertrada castle is probably named after Charles' grandmother, and not after his mother, Bertrada of Laon.
Under the old hayloft is now a large covered terrace with a huge picnic table and BBQ. A fire pit is on the terrace in the adjacent garden. We have decorated the cozy house with things from grandmother's time.
Parking is available directly in front of the door on site.
The house is built with thick walls of natural stone so that the summer heat, especially on the ground floor, can be kept out. And which is comfortably heated in winter. In the dining room there is a wall where you can see the natural stone from which the house is built.
