Westmarkhof

The Westmarkhof is surrounded by almost two hectares of lawns, an apple orchard, oak and beech trees and enormous chestnut trees that together give the feeling of being surrounded by nature. The Westmarkhof is a bird paradise where you can occasionally see a pheasant, hare or deer.
A place for peace, but also a place for action and adventure.
A house that can take a beating for people who are a bit self-reliant and not afraid of a spider.

You are very welcome in our spacious German farmhouse dating from the time when the Loher Westmark peat area was developed for agriculture and livestock farming (1953 - so recently!). The farm is located near the river Soeste, which is navigable from the Netherlands to the marina of Barssel. The marina is four kilometers away from the farm.

House, barn and stables of this original Siedlerbauernhof (settlers' farm) are still in their original state; the places where the cattle stood are still there. We have adjusted a few things in the house. The living area is simply furnished, without much luxury. But all facilities are available for 6 - 8 people for a long weekend or week of carefree relaxation (more people or large groups in consultation).
The farmhouse has three bedrooms.

The charms of the farm are the peace, space and secluded location. The nearest neighbors are almost 150 meters away, which means that a lot is possible: pets are also welcome. There is no TV, internet or WiFi.
The cooking is done on gas, the oven is electric and there is a microwave.
There is a refrigerator, a separate freezer and everything stays nice and cool in the basement.
There is a robust wood-burning stove in the kitchen-diner for heating.
There are two bathrooms, of which the one on the bedroom floor has underfloor heating. Downstairs there is a second toilet and a separate shower. A washing machine is available.

The farm invites you to be outside. There is a badminton set with net, a hammock, a trampoline. Inside there is a pool table and a table tennis table in the hayloft.
There is an extensive record collection with a pick-up and a whole collection of board games.
There are four bicycles in the shed, but for longer trips it is advisable to bring your own bicycle.
Canoes can be rented at the marina in Barssel, and there is a vast lake in Bad Zwischenahn (25 km).
