Westmarkhof

The Westmarkhof stands in the middle of almost two hectares of lawns and trees. A piece of nature in the middle of the German countryside. It is a bird paradise where you sometimes find a hare or deer.
A place for rest, but also a place for action and adventure.
A house that can take a beating for people who are a bit self-reliant and not afraid of a spider.

You are welcome to visit our spacious German farmhouse dating from the time when the peat bog of Loher Westmark was reclaimed for agriculture and cattle breeding (1953 - so recently!). The farm is located near the river Soeste, which is navigable from the Netherlands to the marina of Barssel. The marina is four kilometers away from the farm.

House, barn and stables of this original Siedlerbauernhof (settler's farm) are still in their original state; The places where the cattle were still there. We have adjusted a few things in the house. The living area is simply furnished, without much luxury. But all facilities are available for 6 people for a week of carefree relaxation (different length of stay or more people in consultation).
The farmhouse has three bedrooms.

The charms of the farm are the peace, the space and the secluded location. The nearest neighbours are almost 150 metres away, so a lot is possible and allowed: pets are also welcome. There is no TV, internet or wifi available.
Cooking is done on induction, the oven is electric and there is a microwave.
There is a refrigerator, a separate freezer and everything stays nice and cool in the basement as well.
For heating, there is a robust wood stove in the kitchen.
There are two bathrooms, of which the one on the bedroom floor has underfloor heating. Downstairs is a second toilet and a separate shower. A washing machine is available.

The farm invites you to be outside. There is a badminton set with net, a hammock, a trampoline. Inside is a pool table and in the hayloft a table tennis table.
There is an extensive record collection with a pick-up and there is a whole collection of board games.
There are 4 bicycles in the barn, but for longer trips it is advisable to bring your own bicycle.
At the marina in Barssel they rent canoes, in Bad Zwischenahn (25 km) there is a vast lake.
