Holiday apartment "De Datsja" – peace, space, nature & experiences 🌿
Welcome to De Datsja, your comfortable and attractive holiday home in the heart of the beautiful Seepark Kirchheim. This spacious, detached house is located in a quiet, green location on the edge of the forest, on top of a hill with views over nature. Here you will experience peace, privacy and a relaxed atmosphere, perfect for an active holiday or just relaxing. From the Netherlands you can get there in about 3.5 hours by car.
Our property is ideal for families, friends or several generations together. With four comfortable bedrooms, De Datsja can accommodate up to 8 people — one of which is a spacious double room on the ground floor (excellent for those who find it difficult to climb stairs or like everything on the ground floor). Two of the bedrooms on the first floor have their own sink, and one of them even opens to the balcony. In addition, there is a second bathroom with washing machine, handy for in between.
The house is warmly and attractively furnished with a generous sitting area, large corner sofa and comfortable armchair – perfect for relaxing together or curling up with a book in soft twilight. From the dining area you can enjoy a beautiful view of the edge of the forest, a wonderful place to dine together for a long time.
A perfect base for nature and activities.
Seepark Kirchheim is located directly on the recreational lake Ibrastausee, where you can swim, relax on the sunbathing lawns on the beach or be active with water skiing; For those who prefer to take it easy, pedal boats are also available for hire for a leisurely trip across the reservoir.
For sporty guests, this region offers a huge variety:
- Hiking and cycling: numerous routes lead you through the rolling landscape of the Knüll Nature Park, past forests, streams and views. The surrounding area also offers special routes such as the "Rotkäppchen-Radweg", ideal for families and recreational cyclists.
It is an approximately 36-kilometre-long route that runs through the fairytale landscape around Schwalmstadt, Neukirchen and Oberaula and is named after Little Red Riding Hood (Rotkäppchen), because this region is strongly linked to the fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm. - Golf: In the immediate vicinity you will find several beautiful golf courses that challenge every golfer, beautifully situated in a hilly landscape with green fairways, wooded areas and breathtaking views.
- Motorcycling: For motorcyclists, this region is a true paradise, with winding hill roads, elevation changes and ever-changing landscapes that make every ride a real experience.
Culture, nature and sights in the area
The region not only has nature, but also culture and history. Within an hour you can already reach charming towns and villages with half-timbered houses, museums, cultural festivals and monuments.
- Bad Hersfeld: this city is known for its impressive abbey ruins and cultural events such as the annual open-air festival (Festspiele).
- Alsfeld: a fairytale half-timbered town with a beautiful market place, the historic town hall and the special Ramspeck shop, a popular crowd puller for decades and voted "My Favorite Shop 2020".
- Fulda: a beautiful baroque city with an impressive cathedral, museums and atmospheric squares — ideal for a day trip full of culture and fun.
- Historical routes and castles: numerous castles, ruins and traditional towns invite you to explore and have photo opportunities.
Nature lovers can also take trips to larger nature reserves such as the Kellerwald-Edersee National Park, known for its ancient beech forests that are a UNESCO World Heritage Site — perfect for spectacular hikes and outdoor adventures.

The Datsja is comfortably furnished and fully equipped. In addition to cozy living spaces and bedrooms, there is a fully equipped kitchen, a garden and 2 terraces (both sunny and shaded), and a lovely outdoor area for barbecuing or sitting together under the stars in the evening. The combination of peace, space and nature is what makes this place so special.
Prices & booking
We use all-in rentals from private individuals. Internet use is included and a high chair can be provided on request. Additional costs such as cleaning, bed linen, energy and municipal tax are calculated separately according to the price list on Micazu.
