Welcome to our little Scandinavian-inspired cottage, tucked away among the greenery of the beautiful Naturpark Moor-Veenland. A place where you leave the hustle and bustle behind, where the days can go slower and where simplicity feels special again. No full agendas, haste or constant stimuli here, but silence, fresh air, crackling fire and the tranquility of nature around you.
From the moment you arrive, you can feel the difference. The smell of wood, the sound of birds in the trees, the soft light between the greenery and the silence that can still be really quiet here. Our cottage is built for people who long for peace, connection and a bit of simplicity. A place to be together, have long conversations by the fire, read books that have been waiting for you for months or simply stare out the window while the world doesn't ask anything of you.
Inside it feels warm and cozy. The interior is inspired by the simplicity of Scandinavian living: natural materials, calm colours, soft lighting and a fine wood-burning stove that forms the heart of the cottage. On cold days, there is little better than lighting the fire, listening to the crackling wood and slowly warming up with a cup of tea or a good glass of wine. You can also enjoy fire and warmth outside by the fire bowl under the stars. Wood for both the wood stove and the fire bowl is included during your stay.
The cottage is compact, but decorated with care so that it still feels spacious and atmospheric. Upstairs there is a comfortable double mattress, accessible via a fixed ladder. A nice place to wake up with a view of the greenery and the soft morning light coming in through the windows. Downstairs is a simple sofa bed that is especially suitable for one or two children. Therefore, the cottage is most comfortable for two adults with a maximum of one or two children. It is not a luxury villa, but rather a place where simplicity is central and where you can feel again how little a person actually needs.
Because we consciously want to stay close to nature, there is no running water in the cottage. Instead, we provide a large supply of water that can easily be refilled manually during your stay. Many guests ultimately do not experience this as a loss, but rather as part of the peace and simplicity that makes this place so special. Back to basics, without compromising on atmosphere and comfort.
Outside there is a dry toilet which is clean, odour-free and surprisingly comfortable to use. It fits completely within the natural character of this place and contributes to a more sustainable way of staying. This is also part of slowing down and living more consciously that this place stands for.
The shower is located in the same separate room as the sauna. For those who really want to relax, the sauna can be booked for €35 per session. Especially after a long walk or on a chilly evening, this is a wonderful experience. The warmth, the smell of wood and then cooling off in the open air give a feeling of peace that you will hardly find anywhere else. Adjacent to the sauna is an attractive relaxation room where you can relax, read or simply enjoy the silence.
In the morning you can start the day extra relaxed with freshly baked bread and other delicacies that can be ordered. There is something special about slowly waking up while nature awakens outside and the smell of fresh bread meets you.
During your stay you have access to the entire house, the terrace, the garden, the sauna, shower, relaxation room and the dry toilet. Parking is free of charge about fifty meters from the cottage, so that the immediate surroundings remain quiet and natural.
The environment around the cottage invites you to go outside. Take long walks through nature, cycle along quiet paths, discover the vast landscapes of the moorland or simply take the time to do nothing at all. It is precisely the latter that often turns out to be the most difficult and the most valuable here.
We live a short distance away and are always available when needed. At the same time, we find privacy and tranquility very important, so you can really enjoy your own pace and moment together in complete freedom.
This cottage is not a place for perfection or luxury in the traditional sense. It is a place for peace seekers, nature lovers and people who long for simplicity, warmth and slowing down. A place where you can catch your breath again. Where a crackling fire, a quiet morning and a sky full of stars suddenly turn out to be more than enough.
