The cottage is in a quiet location near the village center of hospitable Eisenschmitt and near the Hocheifel Nature Park.

The village has the status of a recognized health resort.
Eisenschmitt is located about 250 km from Arnhem and 120 km from Liège in one of the most beautiful, hilly areas of the German Ardennes Eifel, in the middle of numerous sights.
Eisenschmitt is beautifully situated in a valley on the river Salm.
The Meerfelder Maar (swimming lake) is beautifully situated (8 km from the house).
The area is part of the beautiful Volcanic Eifel, which is characterized by a hilly landscape with lakes, streams and beautiful castles and other historic buildings. North of the Abbey in the valley of Backenbach there are some fish ponds and the hunting lodge Schloss Bergfeld. In nearby Manderscheid is the famous Niederburg Castle.
Near Eisenschmitt you will find the famous Himmerod Abbey. You can see the tower from the house. Not only is this Abbey a sight to behold, but you can also enjoy a delicious dinner in the restaurant with an outdoor terrace after the gate on the left. On the other side of the village, at about the same height, is the Köhlerstube.
In the vicinity is the tourist town of Manderscheid (10 km from the holiday home). What makes Manderscheid so famous are the two castles from the 13th century and the beautiful recreational swimming pool. Trier, Luxembourg, the Moselle, Traben-Trarbach and Bernkastel are nice trips in the area.
A fifteen-minute drive away, in Gondorf, is the Eifelpark. A wildlife and amusement park with various attractions such as a toboggan run, slides and water roller coaster. In the wildlife park in Daun you can drive your car among the animals . You can get out at various places and feed the animals. There is also a falcon show, restaurant and playground is definitely recommended.
Fishing is possible at Himmerod Abbey. For walkers, there is a beautiful route from the church to Himmerod Abbey.
