CARCES
The village of Carcès is located about 60 km east of Aix-en-Provence, about 60 km north of St.Tropez, and about 110 km west of Nice. It is located 15 to 20 minutes drive north of the A8 motorway (exit Brignoles coming from the west and exit Le Luc coming from the east). Carcès is located in the quiet hinterland of the Côte d'Azur. There is just as much sun as on the coast. The large tourist crowds are at a safe distance, but easy to reach for day trips. The region is called the Provence verte, the green part of Provence. Carcès is located between vineyards (the nearest wine estate is called Carpe Diem) and low wooded hills at about 150 meters above sea level. It is a typical Provencal village that offers all basic amenities including a post office and a good-sized supermarket. There is a market on Saturdays.

THE SITE
The house is located about a kilometer from the village, at the end of a road. There is no noise from a road at all. Leï Restanques (the walls) is the name of the characteristic house. It is located on a 1.8 hectare private site with lots of privacy and with many attractive spots. The site consists of a small, shallow valley with numerous terraces bordered by ancient walls. These walls are stacked by hand to create aesthetic masterpieces. The walls make tangible at the cost of how much effort in earlier years the site has been brought into cultivation (for viticulture). The site has also been partly used as a quarry, still visible in a single cairn.

The terraces are easily accessible and are connected by scenic paths. Olive trees grow on part of the terraces. There are fig trees and almond trees. There are also many holm oaks (remains green) and pedunculate oaks (drops its leaves) and further away from the house pines. Part of the northern slope is a rugged forest. The site is a haven for botanists: many wild plants grow throughout the site, including orchids. In early spring, the irises turn the terrain blue and in May the broom turns a slope yellow. Kitchen herbs such as mint, thyme and rosemary can be found everywhere. The mossy paths on the north slope are yellow or green depending on the weather. A cypress marks the entrance to the site. 

You can do all kinds of things on the site. There is a football field. There is a badminton court (with net). There is a professional ping-pong table outside. There is a corner with a bench where you can retreat. In another place a hammock has been hung where you can doze off. The site is a true paradise for children: what about the four-storey tree house.
At some distance from the house there is a swimming pool of 10x5 meters. Adjacent to the pool is a shallow area where you can stretch out in the water and where small children can play. The pool terrace has four sun loungers and a hot shower.

The terrain has a very favorable sunlight. The house is located on the southwest against a sunny slope. The sun is not obstructed by trees or hills, making it pleasant around the house even outside the high season and in winter. There are many shaded areas on the site. The outdoor terrace provides protection from the (high-pitch) sun in the summer and offers a sheltered spot in the (low) sun in the winter. From the house there is a wide view of the private grounds. In some places there is a distant view in an easterly or westerly direction.

THE HOUSE
The house is built in a traditional way and has many authentic details. The whole was completely renovated and newly furnished a few years ago. It is spacious and fully equipped. There is a fireplace and electric heating. Everything is equipped for a stay of 10 people: 8 in the house and possibly 2 in the guest house. There is ample crockery. The layout is as follows:
Hall with separate toilet. Living room with conservatory and open kitchen, 65 m2, and adjoining covered outdoor terrace, 25 m2, with large table and 10 terrace chairs. From there you can walk straight onto the site. There are four lazy chairs and a garden table with 6 chairs.
Bedrooms: there are two bedrooms with private bathroom/toilet. These have air conditioning. Two bedrooms share the third bathroom. The beds are 90x200 or twice 90x200, in all four bedrooms there is a wardrobe.

GUESTHOUSE
At about 100 meters distance from the house is hidden in the forest an idyllic and clean guest house. You will find a bedroom with a double bed, a conservatory room and a basic kitchen. Sanitary facilities (including hot shower) are available nearby in the open air. For the romantics and those seeking peace and quiet.
