Beautiful and completely renovated village house, used as an epicerie and café until 2013. At the time it was run by Paulette Chomard, a celebrity in this area. The house is located in the village. We bought the house in 2016 and completely renovated it to Dutch standards, making it a nice and comfortable home. you enter the fully equipped, spacious kitchen/diner.
Here you will find a table for 4 people and everything you need to cook at home. A hob with oven, a coffee maker, an electric kettle, a dishwasher and a refrigerator with freezer. A kitchen is not complete without pans, cutlery and crockery. You'll find it all here. The utility room contains the washing machine and also a combination microwave. Here you will also find a juicer, a rice cooker and a toaster. From the hall behind the kitchen a staircase leads to the first floor. One of the two toilets is also located on the ground floor. Do not feel like cooking? No problem! You can eat out, literally around the corner: the restaurant La Table de Gouttieres is located 50 meters from our house.
Next to the kitchen you will find the living room. This used to be the epicerie. The living room is spacious, nice and light, equipped with comfortable sofas and a TV and DVD player. The cupboard contains various games, various DVDs, books and a shuffleboard board.
On the first floor there are two spacious bedrooms, a bathroom and a separate toilet. The front bedroom has a comfortable box spring with topper (160x200) and the rear room (with sink) has two single beds (80x200) with fine latex mattresses. What's so nice about a village in the French countryside is that the church bell tells the time. Even the Angelus is still sounded here! And at the stroke of midnight the street lights go out. If you look up at night, a beautiful starry sky with endless stars unfolds.
The garden can be reached via the hall on the first floor. You go down the Volvic natural stone stairs and then enter a quiet, green and spacious garden. A gate provides access to the garden from the street. In the garden there is a comfortable garden set for 4 people. Because the house is detached and the garden is spacious, there is plenty of privacy. The garden is completely fenced.
In the immediate vicinity you will find various towns and villages. St. Gervais d'Auvergne at 5 km, Pionsat at 9 km and Saint-Eloy-les-Mines at 10 km. There are also several lakes in the area with beaches where you can relax, sunbathe and swim. And yet you will find peace and space here, even in high season. The Auvergne is a beautiful part of France with a lot of variety in landscapes and always a different character. From beautiful deciduous forests to rocky and even mountainous landscapes. And of course many dormant volcanoes.
What can you visit? Cities worth a visit include:
-Clermont-Ferrand (and the Puy de Dôme volcano) 1 hour's drive away.
-Vichy about an hour's drive away.
-Montluçon is about a 40-minute drive away.
-Saint Pourcain sur Sioule (nice town and wine region nearby) is about a 50-minute drive.

Would you rather be more active?
-You can go for treatment in La Bourboule, Mont Dore and the Puy Sancy (volcano) and also go skiing in winter. In any case, they are pleasant towns with terraces everywhere. The landscape there is rougher, really different from ours. And yet only a 1-hour drive away.
-Canoeing is possible on the Sioule, through the beautiful Gorges (an 18-minute drive).
-Various walks have been marked out in the area and more and more mountain bikers are finding their way to the Auvergne. In addition, during the Tour de France there is always a city or village included in the tour route.
Want to do something different?
Gouttières is centrally located in France. A trip to Bordeaux and Lyon, among others, is easy to do and Limoges is also not very far away. Within about 3 hours you will be in cities that you often do not simply visit, or even drive past on the way south.
The house is heated by electric radiators. Electricity is included up to 8 KwH per day. Upon departure, you pay for any additional KwH consumed.
