The gites Lavender and Oleander are located next to each other and form the left part of the large grange (barn). The gites have a large, covered terrace (Place Rouge) of 7 x 7 m with an outdoor kitchen, dining tables and garden chairs.
Rental price : The rent in the high season is €675 for both gites together with use of the covered terrace Place Rouge. In low season 500 €.
Cleaning costs are 60 € - one-off; the Tourist Tax/Taxe de sejour for both gites is €1.11 per adult (18+) per night.
The rental price includes consumption of water, gas and electricity and the use and maintenance of the swimming pool. You then bring your own linen. If desired, you can also rent our linen for an additional €20 per person.
These gites are part of the Chateau FABRE VIEUX, a castle from 1642 that we have restored. The site covers a total of 4 hectares, on which we live (in Maison Tour) and on which 3 houses/gites are rented to holidaymakers. In addition to these 2 gites, the Maison Escalier (House with stone external stairs) and the Fournil (the Bake House) are also available for rent.
All three accommodations have plenty of privacy with their own terraces and surrounding land.
These accommodations are usually rented separately, but sometimes also together for larger (family) groups.
The 10 x 5 m swimming pool with terraces is available to all tenants.
Layout of gites Oleander and Lavender:
The two gites are mirror images of each other and are divided as follows:
Ground floor : room with kitchenette, dining table, bathroom and twin beds of 1.80 x 2m, which can also be set up as 2 separate single beds of 90x2m. The bathrooms have a toilet, shower and sink.
A wooden staircase leads to the loft/mezzanine.
Vide mezzanine: in Lavender there is a double bed of 1.60 x 2m on the loft; in Oleander there is a doubter measuring 1.13 x 1.85m above.
The gîte Oleander can accommodate a maximum of 3 people; the gite Lavender for max 4 pp. So a maximum of 7 pp in total.
The gites can also be rented separately, depending on availability. You can request information about this from the landlord.
The covered terrace with a red concrete floor [hence the name Place Rouge] has a beautiful view of the hills on the sides. It has an outdoor kitchen with refrigerator, 4-burner gas stove, combi oven, pans and crockery. There is a large dining table with 8 chairs and an additional dining table with 4 chairs. Some garden loungers.
Washing machine: you can use a washing machine in one of the storage rooms of the castle.
Fabre Vieux is the ideal place for you if you love nature and tranquility, while within a radius of 15 - 25 km there are also all kinds of cultural attractions (festivals, museums, castles, markets, domaines de vin) and you can undertake sporting activities , for example in the LOT river near Cahors (canoeing, kayaking, swimming, horse riding, tree climbing, golf).
Fabre Vieux is connected to the electricity grid. Stoves, hobs and hot water heaters run on propane gas (a buried tank).
There is an internet connection with a reasonable range.
