Chateau Mondou is an attractive thirteenth century country retreat located in the lush hills of the Lot et Garonne. The domain is suitable for up to 16/18 people and has three gites, for 8, 6 and 4 people. In addition, there is a large additional castle room that can be rented separately. The gites can be rented separately or all together. You then have the cosiness of your company and yet the privacy of your own gite.
A lovely saltwater swimming pool of 11x5 meters is located privately behind the building. Everywhere you have an unobstructed view over the countryside. A communal outdoor area with wood stove, pizza oven and long tables complete the picture. Everything you need for a wonderful holiday. Our domain has super strong and fast internet via satellite. In the right wing (seen from the pool) of the chateau we live, Rokus and Marie-Anne. We are discreet in the background and regularly absent in July and August but always available with advice and assistance to give you an extra pleasant stay.
In the left wing (seen from the pool) is the largest gite: Bellevue. This gite has two bedrooms downstairs and two upstairs. It has a large nice bathroom with two sinks and walk-in shower. There are two living rooms; One with the open kitchen and large table adjacent to the huge balcony with 180 degree views over the pool and farmlands. A second living room has a large wood stove and armchairs.
Bellevue has private access from the south side to the pool.
Across the street from the chateau is gite La Loge, a former porter's house. This particular gite can accommodate 6 people, has two double bedrooms, one of which is located on the mezzanine. There is also a small bunk room. The kitchen is well equipped with a large Smeg stove. There is a bathroom with shower and sink and a separate toilet. La Loge has three terraces, on the east, south and west side and its own piece of garden.
Hidden behind the barn we find the third gite: La Grangee, which is situated in the former calf barn. La Grangee is a bit smaller, very private and suitable for 4 people. It has two bedrooms and a bathroom. The kitchen is new and well equipped. You have optimal privacy with a private courtyard and a large garden with unobstructed views.
Finally, we have an authentic castle room with bathroom in the tower. Here you go back in time and feel like a lady and/or lord of the castle. Very suitable for special occasions, as a bridal suite, chambre d'hôtes or simply as an extra room. This can be rented separately.
The domain stands on its own grounds of 2 hectares and is located 4 kilometers above Villeneuve sur Lot, a pleasantly lively bastide town with all amenities, markets and entertainment. The area is rural, hilly and there are numerous interesting places to visit. Tourism is pleasant and just right. Not too busy and not too quiet.
You can cycle, walk, swim, play golf (well-equipped golf course at 7 km), visit castles and caves, sail a boat on the Lot, visit many charming bastide villages with a food market every evening in high season. There are also various adventures and water parks. But perhaps the best thing is to relax next to the pool in a nice chair under the lime tree.
