Now equipped with a beautiful 11 x 5 inground swimming pool!
The spacious gîte of La Bachasse was built in the stable of a more than 200 year old farm. The past can be found in, for example, the natural stone walls and the height, the comfort is contemporary. The gîte has recently had a major makeover, with the furnishings being almost completely renewed. The phenomenal view has remained unchanged.
Layout of the ground floor: hall, living room with seating for 4, large dining table, fully equipped kitchen (including hob, oven, dishwasher, refrigerator), bathroom (shower and sink), separate toilet, a room with washing machine, and the "studio ”, a storage room with freezer and microwave. On the first floor there is a large bedroom with queen-size bed, a room adjacent to the bedroom with toilet and sink, a mezzanine with two single beds (protected with curtains/folding screens), as well as a mezzanine with TV/game/diaper corner. The total area of the house is approximately 100 m2.
At the side and back of the gîte is a garden of approximately 400m2 where you have complete privacy. There is also the west-facing terrace with spectacular views over the valley, equipped with a dining table and chairs. The garden also has outdoor armchairs, sunbeds and a picnic table. There is also an east-facing terrace with a dining table for breakfast in the sun. The rest of the site is also available, for example to throw a ball on the private jeu de boules court, to play a game of table tennis in the barn, or to play badminton on one of the lawns. You might run into us, but the site is so large at almost 7,000 m2 that you won't easily get in each other's way.
The sun-heated newly constructed swimming pool of 5 x 11 meters can be used from approximately mid-June to approximately the end of September. There are no other users, except ourselves occasionally, and possibly. our guests.
The house has central heating for the colder days in spring and autumn.
The gîte is suitable for couples and families with a maximum of two (larger) children (+ small child in an additional bed).
There is an opportunity to charge the electric car (via a regular socket).
Environment
La Bachasse is located in a small village, in the lovely rolling bocage landscape. Most of the noise here comes from the birds – or the cows in a neighboring pasture. Aigurande is about an 8-minute drive away, with bakeries, butchers, a large supermarket and a few cafes/restaurants. In 20 minutes you can reach La Chatre, which has a wide range of shops, 5 supermarkets and quite a few catering establishments.
What is there to do
It is quiet here and very suitable for taking walks. Every village has set out a number of them. One of these can be picked up virtually from the house. The very nearby Parc des Parelles is a must for hikers.
Cycling is also possible, because there is hardly any traffic on the many country roads. Expect tough hills here and there.
For those who want to swim or do water sports, there are a number of lakes with beaches in the vicinity (Pouligny Notre Dame, le Bourg d'Hem, Lac d'Eguzon, Lac Sidiailles), in some cases expanded with a playground, zip lines and tree climbing courses, also suitable for older youth.
In the summer the lakes are pleasantly busy (especially with French people), but nowhere near as busy as on the coast. In the area there is also the opportunity to play golf, fishing or horse riding.
For more cultural excursions you cannot ignore George Sand. This romantic writer, lover of (among others) Chopin, had a large country house with garden (Nohant) and a writer's cottage (Gargilesse) nearby. Both can be visited.
We also find castles in the area (Sarzay, for example), gardens, many churches and churches, and even a Basilica, and also museums (Argenton s/Creuse, Chassignolles, St. Marcel). In the summer months there are brocantes or vide greniers to visit in various villages, in addition to the regular markets in Aigurande and La Chatre. Tourist information is available in the gîte.
Culinary and wine
There are restaurants of different types in the area. Some have complete menus for €15 including wine. That's fine, but simple. A smaller number go on the culinary tour - with prices moving more towards Dutch prices. A pizzeria, Asian all-you-can-eat and even McDonald's can also be found in the area. Vineyards and houses, which also organize tastings, can be found near Châteaumeillant. The residents of Berry are proud of their region and what is made here. You can buy local products in the supermarket, such as meat from the Charolais cows and goat cheese.
