Charming and very comfortable detached chalet on 1500 meters of private land for up to 7 people in one of the most beautiful places in the French Alps with beautiful views of Mont Blanc and surrounding mountains. The house is located in a very quiet and dead-end street. There is ample and private parking for 2 cars in front of the chalet.
The chalet has been designed and built in authentic style and has modern furniture, upholstery and lighting. The bedrooms have comfortable beds, good bedding and spacious wardrobes. The 2 bathrooms are sufficient for 6-7 people. The kitchen has a coffee cup machine and a new milk frother. All kitchen utensils are provided and there is more than enough crockery, cutlery and glassware.
In the basement is a Miele washing machine and Miele dryer. In the garage (which cannot be used for the car) there is ample space for coats, hiking boots, skis and ski boots.
The barn has stylish sun loungers and modern garden furniture and there is a hammock. The 3 mountain bikes can be used for a small fee.
The chalet has a large south-facing garden, on the edge of the forest and is located in a very quiet area near the village of Les Praz. Chamonix city center is a 20-minute walk away. From Les Praz you can easily take the famous Mt Blanc train or towards Switzerland via Vallorcine or further into the valley towards Servoz.
Chamonix has been the mecca for skiers and mountaineers for over 100 years. The ski bus leaves regularly from the end of our street and takes you to the bus station at the Flegere lift and from there there are fast buses to the other ski resorts such as the Brevent and the Grand Montet near Argentiere and of course to the lift station in front of the Aiguille du Midi to go skiing on the glacier, the Vallée Blanche. Another nice ski area is in the nearby Les Houches. Or go skiing for a day and have a nice lunch in Courmayeur in Italy, the entrance to the Mt Blanc tunnel is a 15-minute drive from the house.
In the summer, Chamonix has a lot to offer for cyclists, (mountain) climbers and of course hikers (for example for the famous Tour du Mont Blanc). There are tennis courts and a 50 meter outdoor pool and a wellness center (all with views of the Mt Blanc) a 10 minute walk from the house.
Off season and outside the high seasons when it is quiet in Chamonix and the surrounding area it is also wonderful to stay.
Chamonix has shops for all the beautiful outdoor stuff and there are excellent supermarkets and specialty shops for the typical French delicacies.
Geneva (flights to and from Schiphol a few times a day) and Annecy are relatively close and through the Mt Blanc tunnel you are in 30 minutes in the Aosta valley, Turin is about 3 hours away, Basel is about 4 hours away. There are regular buses to and from Geneva Airport, which is cheap and fast. The bus station is in Chamonix Sud.
