Mill

Moulin de la Forge

On an old map from the 13th century, on the site of the current building on an island in the Marne river, a "moulin" (water mill) is mentioned. Later in the 17th century a stone building was erected on the islet as it still stands today.
At the end of the 19th century, the canal from the Marne to the Saone was dug parallel to the Marne, and in this context the course of the river in Riaucourt was changed, causing the mill to become 'dry' and to lose its function as a grain mill.

The mill was radically restored in 2005, maintaining the original details and atmosphere as much as possible. Contemporary facilities such as heating, water and electricity were also installed.
Le Moulin now has an attractive kitchen diner with a fireplace, a utility room with a dishwasher, washing machine and dryer, a spacious sitting room with a fireplace and a 'tower room' with a large reading and / or game table.
In addition, there are 5 attractive bedrooms and 3 bathrooms and 3 toilets on the two upper floors.

Around the skin is a simple spacious garden with orchard on the river Marne.

In short: a wonderful and attractive family house for a group of up to 10 people! What do you want to do ?New mailCopyWhat do you want to do ?New mailCopy

I am a real francophile who spends a lot of time in France and consciously chose the quiet department of Haute Marne. After my working life in the construction industry, I have lovingly transformed Le Moulin into a wonderful family home together with local 'artisans'.

Riaucourt is located in the peaceful Haute Marne department. The sparsely populated Haute Marne has a lot of forests and water and it is a true paradise for peace seekers, walkers and cyclists. The provincial town of Chaumont with all amenities is just a few kilometers away. A supermarket and a bakery are 3 km away in a neighboring village. The picturesque towns of Langres, Troyes and Dyon are some distance away. The surrounding area is filled with tranquil villages with medieval churches and partly inhabited castles and country houses. Activities nearby are the many well-signposted walks, endless cycling possibilities, the challenging 9-hole golf course in Arc-en-Barrois, the renowned museum in honor of the great French statesman General de Gaulle in Collombey-le-deux-Églises. Nearby is the well-known water sport area Lac-de-Der with endless water sport possibilities.
