Discover the region around Saint Gély - Goudargues
Nestled in the heart of the Gard, nestled among the rolling vineyards of the Cèze Valley, lies the charming village of Goudargues. With its winding canals, shady plane trees and charming terraces, it is affectionately known as the "Venice of the Gard". It is a place where time is not in a hurry, where the smell of lavender and fresh bread meets you, and where French village life still feels pure and authentic.
Here too, the historic church Église abbatiale Notre-Dame-et-Saint-Michel de Goudargues is recommended — architectural style Romanesque/Gothic elements, and a story that dates back to the Benedictine abbey.
Holiday home la Muraille is the perfect starting point for half-day explorations or day trips.
Within a radius of around 30 km, you will find a mix of nature, culture, gastronomy and picturesque villages — exactly what holidaymakers in the Gard want to experience.
Visit the nice village of La Roque-sur-Cèze (only a few minutes' drive): narrow streets, medieval atmosphere, beautiful view over the valley of the Cèze.
Take a canoe trip or walk along the Cèze: the river and surrounding nature provide refreshment and tranquility.
Explore the "Vaucluse" — the spectacular gorges/recesses in the limestone at, for example, Les Concluses de Lussan (about 9-10 km) with viewpoints, hiking trails through the special nature.
A short drive away is the impressive Théâtre Antique d'Orange in Orange (~29 km), a well-preserved UNESCO-listed Roman theater.
