Additional information

The holiday home is situated on a spacious flat plot of approximately 4300 m2 and is situated on the south, surrounded by forests and hills and close to the Dordogne river. The entire house is built from the yellow stones so well known for the Dordogne region. The garden with fruit trees, including cherry, apple, plum and nut trees, and on the terrace with garden furniture and a large awning you can enjoy breakfast. There is also more than enough garden furniture, parasols and a fixed barbecue. In the garden you can play badminton, football or play the so typical French game of petanque on our petanque court. The balls are already waiting for you!!
Like so many people, we also dreamed of a house in France. We have been coming for years in the beautiful Dordogne / Perigord Noir. This area had stolen our hearts and we too stood with our noses in front of the estate agents' windows. Unfortunately, the Internet was not yet a common good at that time. In 2000 we went looking and found our home. It stood stately and perky (in good structural condition, very important in that period) smiling at us on a sunny day in March. Located in a residential area, not in the middle of nowhere, but with a beautiful view and lots of privacy. All well-known tourist attractions, such as Sarlat, Domme and Beynac are literally around the corner. You understand, the purchase was then quickly concluded. However, sitting back and enjoying the good French life was not an option. After many years of hard work, we have completely renovated the house and outdoor area to our requirements. The beautiful swimming pool has been landscaped and we hope that more people can enjoy this unique place. Experience this experience when, on a beautiful warm summer evening, with a glass of wine in your hand, you see a hot air balloon gently slide past in the sky and look out at the beautiful surroundings from the edge of the swimming pool! We hope to welcome you ! Kind regards, Rien and Ellen

The villa is quietly located with plenty of privacy. However, it is not isolated and is located about 3 kilometers from the town of Cenac et St. Julien (only a few minutes by car). This village is located directly on the river Dordogne and just below Domme. It has all facilities, restaurant, terraces, supermarket, bakery, butcher, bank, post office, doctor, dentist, pharmacy and a weekly market. About 10 kilometers away is Sarlat, the capital of the Perigord Noir, with a lively weekly market on Saturdays. Sarlat has an extensive range of shops, supermarkets, restaurants and terraces, a train station and a hospital. The house is located in the Sarlat/Domme/Beynac tourist triangle, so the most beautiful sights are a stone's throw away. For further information, see the description: What to do in the Perigord Noir and the individual descriptions of some of the places of interest.

The climate in the Périgord Noir is a continental climate influenced by the Mediterranean and the Atlantic Ocean. A mild climate which from mid April to late October is usually warm and sunny. The hottest months are July and August, with peaks of over 30 graden. In summer evenings can also stay warm and cools off until early in the morning. Sometimes a rainstorm just bring coolness after the rain comes soon then the sun reappeared. Al feels the weather nearly always pleasant, that is due to the absence of the wind.Herfst: perhaps the finest season: chestnuts fall from the tree to find anywhere walnuts and mushrooms offered to you. The colors of nature come to life: volrood, volgeel and volgroen. The light in the evening and the rising mist vapors in the morning: unsurpassed. It may still be warm, 25 degrees is no exception in October. For the latest weather forecast see www.weer.nl and www.meteo.fr

Canoeing on the Dordogne is a popular activity. In season, the Dordogne turns yellow and red from the cozy boats. In Cenac (near the bridge over the Dordogne) it is possible to rent a canoe to sail down the Dordogne. Various distances are possible. A unique experience to admire the beautiful surroundings from the water and along the way you will come across beautiful castles. Highly recommended !
Beynac with its château hanging above the Dordogne River. For the sports enthusiasts among us, you can walk up to the castle. From the town of Beynac through narrow streets The castle is open to visitors and you will think you are completely in the Middle Ages. At the castle you have a magnificent view of the river and the surrounding area. The most beautiful view of the castle have however from a canoe on the river. For further information see www.beynac-and-perigord.com
Castelnaud-la-Chapelle with its impressive castle. This castle was during the Hundred Years War in battle with Beynac. Today there is a museum about this medieval war.
For further information see www. castelnaud.com
Domme is a medieval fortified town located high above the Dordogne valley and from the ramparts you have a fantastic view of the surroundings. There is in season a tourist train through the narrow, climbing streets. On the square in the center is also the entrance to the caves located below the town. Definitely worth at the end of the visit will be via a glass elevator along the mountainside up again. From there, you have of course a great view.
For further information see also www.domme.fr
Château Les Milandes, is best known as the former residence of Joséphine Baker. In the castle is a museum where you can hear the life of Josephine and see. Then there are beautiful gardens containing a raptor show.
For further information see also www.milandes.com
The park of the castle of Marqueyssac is one of the finest achievements in the history of the French gardens. The park is designed for walking and looks with its high limestone cliffs on the valley of the Dordogne. From here you have one of the best panoramic views in the Perigord. In July and August are the paths illuminated at night with hundreds of candles. This gives a fairytale atmosphere.

Last but not least, our favorite, of course, Sarlat-la-Caneda, capital of the Périgord Noir, is not unjustly called "the jewel of the Middle Ages". In high season it is quite touristy and can be very busy, but well worth it.The is a network of narrow streets and alleys in gothic and renaissance style. You can enjoy the terraces and plenty of restaurants and a very lively market on Saturday. You can also use the tourist city guided tour bespreken.Vanaf mid July, the "Festival des Jeux du Théatre, rather than allowing numerous street performers are present daily. From your terrace with a nice glass of wine to enjoy entertainment, highly recommended!
For further information see also www.sarlat-tourisme.com
On fine summer evenings it can happen that you see happen. Several balloons A sight to behold! You too can experience such a hot air balloon and see the beautiful countryside with its medieval towns and castles from the air. If the wind is favorable to get even perhaps over our house "float". Remember beforehand not to get the camera along
For already a small taste, check out the following sites:

The golf enthusiasts will not be forgotten.

At approximately 25 kilometers away, is the beautiful 18-hole golf course, Golf de Lolivarie in Siorac-en-Périgord. Here one can well in a relaxed atmosphere golfen.Zie further website: www.lolivariegolfclub.com

For the not so experienced golfer is also in Siorac-en-Périgord a small 9-hole course: Golf de la Forge. Here it is usually pretty quiet so that no reservation can play at an attractive price. For information see www.golfdelaforge.fr
