Chateau les Forges - tennis golf

The current château was built in 1883, but there was already a large house in the village of Les Forges since the middle of the 15th century, when the lord of the domain, one Antoine De Payle, built a 'maison forte' on this site. 

Les Forges is located in a historic area.  

The Battle of Vouillé (20km)  was a decisive battle in the Frankish-Gothic War. The battle took place in the spring of 507 and marked the creation of France. 

At the Battle of Poitiers (30 km) in October 732, Charles Martel of the Franks defeated  a Moorish army under Emir Abdul Rahman.  The outcome of this battle halted the northward expansion of Islam from Spain and is traditionally associated with the beginning of the Reconquista 

The castle has a main building and outbuildings and 27 apartments have been built in it. The owners come from all over the world from Australia to the USA and more than 40% of the owners are Dutch. The castle has an 8-hectare garden, a swimming pool and 2 tennis courts. In front of the entrance of the castle is a 27-hole golf course. 

The apartment has a spacious living room (36m2), a spacious bedroom, a bathroom and 2 terraces. There is a small kitchen with 2 burners, a refrigerator and an oven/microwave. There is also a TV with a DVD player and a golf set. The bedroom has a double bed. There is a 1 person folding bed for the living room or bedroom. 

The castle is 30 km from Poitiers and 852 km from Utrecht. La Rochelle, Île de Ré, Niort, Cognac and Royan can be reached quickly. Bordeaux and Orleans are a little further. The TGV has a stop in Poitiers. The TGV runs to Paris Montparnasse in less than an hour and a half.
