Manor / Castle

Gîte Château Sainte Colombe 26 pers

The cozy gîte of the Château Sainte Colombe is located in the Burgundian countryside and has rooms for 2, 3, 6 and 8 people. Although the rooms can also be booked separately, the château also lends itself well to larger groups (families, groups of friends, cyclists, courses such as painting, music, yoga, cooking, cultural tours, hikers, seminars, team building, etc.).
The almost 400-year-old Château of Sainte Colombe is located on a slope in the eponymous village in the Burgundy countryside, in the Côte d'Or department; listed by UNESCO as one of the least polluted places in Europe. The château is owned by the ARCADE foundation, which has been working for the preservation of the castle for more than 30 years. Apart from a gîte, there are also exhibition spaces (changing design exhibitions) and workshops and concerts are given (including in the beautiful courtyard). Language and painting courses are also regularly organized. A part of the castle (450 m²) is made suitable as a gîte with attractive rooms and other spaces. In addition to a kitchen, dining room, lounge and terrace, there are currently rooms for 2, 3, 6 and 8 people. The total number of beds is 28, but in the summer season (May - September) there are a total of 36 sleeping places. All rooms have their own bathroom and toilet.
Meals can be prepared in the well-equipped kitchen, but in consultation meals can also be arranged by a caterer (minimum 10 people). In addition, it is also possible (for large groups) to rent the professional kitchen (including dishwasher and large oven).
The terrace offers views of the lower part of the village and the hills in the area.
In the early and late season the heating is included in the common areas and heating in the rooms is possible on request (extra charge).

Sainte-Colombe-En-Auxois is located 7.5 hours from Utrecht (not far from the A6 / "Route du Soleil") in the hills of the Cote d'Or (Burgundy). The village has 60 inhabitants and is very picturesque with a castle, church and "lavoir". From Sainte Colombe there are many possibilities to go on foot, by bike or by car. The famous walking route of Julius Ceasar (Alésia / Bibracte) runs through the village. Sainte Colombe has no shops, but a small shop / bakery can be found in the neighboring village. From 8 kilometers there are several places with larger supermarkets and other stores.

We, Menno and Anne-Lise, have been renting authentic holiday homes in beautiful Burgundy for many years. Initially, we did this from the Netherlands in addition to our activities as restaurant owner and teacher respectively, but later we have permanently settled in the neighborhood of our holiday homes and we are occupied almost full-time with the rental. This means that we are always immediately approachable with any questions and problems. Au revoir!

Additional information

This beautiful space is also very suitable for an attractive dinner
Thanks for everything, we had a good night at your amazing place!
Kind regards from Anne

I stayed here for a night with my mother and three kids on our way to Normandy. Menno was very friendly and showed us around. He made the kids feel special, explaining the history of the chateau to them. It was a comfortable stay and we enjoyed breakfast in the sun outside the next morning. Thanks for a great stay!

We stayed at this lovely chateau while road tripping through France. Menno was extremely kind and accommodating of our late arrival. The room was comfortable, great value, and the grounds beautiful – we only wish we had more time to explore before leaving the next morning. Would certainly recommend. Thank you!

It was a very nice place to stay in the countryside. Our host, Menno, was very kind and helpful. The room was clean and very nice. It was a modernized old big big house. Big kitchen with everything you need for coking. Very charming place.

What an incredible place! Really enjoyed our evening and night here, so glad we found it.

The place is just amazing, and the location in the heart of French Bourgogne is perfect to discover the region. The house in itself is very cosy and comfortable, perfect even for big groups of 28-36 (we were 20 for one night). Anne Lise and Menno are very kind and helpful, flexible and open-minded. I warmly recommend to meet them !

Many thanks for the help during our stay. We had a great time in Burgundy and we are lucky to have found you !
Best wishes,
Andrew, Louise, Henry and Bentile
From Sainte Colombe you can enjoy a lovely walk through the woods and along the fields. The hilly landscape naturally offers beautiful panoramas.
The goat farm of Sara can be visited in Sainte Colombe. Every day from 5.30 pm the goats are milked (children can also help) and then there can be bought whole cheeses.
