Village Le Chat 155 is located in the cosy Village Le Chat - a holiday park in the Charente.
We bought this holiday home in October 2022. The previous owners have thoroughly renovated and refurbished the cottage. For example, new window frames with double glazing have been installed everywhere, the electricity has been modernized, the entire house has been repainted and the garden has undergone a metamorphosis.
Since the winter season 2022-2023, we have continued to refurbish everything ourselves. For example, an excellent internet connection via fiber optic has been installed. There is a new floor in the living room and the kitchen has been completely replaced, including an induction hob. We replaced the sofa in the living room, the dining table and chairs. We have renovated the stairs to the first floor. In the bedroom at the front we have placed a new (bunk) bed and we have given various walls a color. We have placed a storage room in the garden and last summer (2025) the stairs between the 2 terraces were replaced.
The two-storey cottage is built on a slope. From above you reach the front door from the quiet road through the park (driving at walking pace) via a concrete staircase. You then enter on the 1st floor. From below on the side of the lake you can walk up through the garden to the patio doors in the living room (ground floor). Please note that you can only get to the top of the stairs at the front by car - at the bottom along the lake, the gravel path (footpath) is not accessible to car traffic.
There is a spacious parking space at the top of the stairs in front of the house. Unfortunately, there are no public charging facilities for electric cars at the park yet, but in Montbron there is one at the supermarket (Intermarché), a 10-minute drive from Village Le Chat.
The living room has a cozy sitting area with a spacious corner sofa. There is a TV on which you can turn on your favorite Netflix series, among other things. There is also a Sonos speaker with which you can connect via Bluetooth and listen to your own playlist via Spotify, for example. In the open kitchen there is a dining table with 6 chairs and you will also find a dishwasher, oven, induction hob, a Nespresso coffee maker, toaster, kettle, washing machine, refrigerator and a separate (small) freezer. There is plenty of crockery and glassware available.
Directly adjacent to the cottage is a nice terrace with a large garden table. There is an electric awning that you can use if you like to have shade in that place. A second terrace has been laid out slightly down towards the lake. Here you have a beautiful view over the (swimming) lake. There are both regular chairs and sunbeds available to enjoy this place.
The garden is also beautifully landscaped with various plants. A few medium-sized trees in the garden provide wonderful natural shade on hot days.
An open staircase (or through the front door) leads to the 1st floor, with 2 bedrooms and a bathroom.
The bedroom at the front of the house has a bunk bed and a single bed. All with good, comfortable mattresses in the size 90x200cm. Pillows and 3 single duvets are provided. There is a fold-out desk in this room, so you can turn it into a workplace.
In the bedroom at the back of the house is a double box spring with a good and comfortable mattress of 180x200cm. Pillows and a double duvet are provided. Here is also space to store clothes and other items in an open closet. Through the patio doors you enter the balcony with beautiful views of the garden and the lake.
In the compact but nice and modern bathroom you will find a shower, washbasin and toilet.
Further rental information:
You are welcome to bring your dog, we ask a small surcharge of 25 euros per dog per stay. We like it if you want him or her to lie in their own basket / on their own blanket on the floor and not on the couches or beds.
There is (free) internet via fiber optic available. Login details can be found in the house.
Duvets and pillows are provided. The request is to bring your own sheets, duvet covers and pillowcases, as well as kitchen linen and (bath) towels. If this is difficult, please let us know. Then we will see what we can arrange for you through our manager.
We always leave an initial supply of toilet paper, soap and dishwasher tablets, detergent, tea bags and coffee cups so that there is at least something available when we or tenants arrive. Nice if you also want to leave something for those who come after you / add to it when it has run out.
Kind regards, Geert Jan and Caroline.
