Holiday home 'Belvédère'

Our holiday home is located on the border of the Dordogne and Charente, in South West France in the picturesque Aubeterre sur Dronne. This village is high on the list of 'plus beaux villages de France'.

Our house is a stone's throw from the bustling village square, but because of its location it also offers a lot of privacy. On and around the pleasant village square there are restaurants and cafes with live music in the summer season. There are also several shops, including the bakery, the butcher, a shop with local specialties and brocantes.
There is also a small supermarket within walking distance on the way to the river. On Sundays there is a market in the village square.

At 500 meters walking distance from the house, a wide sandy beach and sunbathing lawn have been constructed along the river. There you can swim safely and enjoy a drink or snack at the 'buvette'. Water sports enthusiasts can also enjoy kayaking and canoeing there.

For active holidaymakers there are also countless possibilities, for example cycling, tennis, golf in the estate of 'le manoir de Longeveau' or horse riding in les écuries des chênes in Montmoreau.

A visit to Aubeterre's special underground church is also a must. This church is carved into the rock and with a vault of 20 meters high is the largest cave church in Europe.

Aubeterre is an excellent starting point to explore the beautiful area with a rich history. Visit the larger weekly markets in Ribérac or Chalais to buy fresh produce from local suppliers or the various flea markets nearby and flea markets on the weekends. Enjoy a day out in Brantôme, Bergerac or Perigueux. Beautiful Bordeaux is just over 1 hour away. There you can shop on one of the longest shopping streets in France, admire the Bordelaise architecture, take river trips and relax on one of the many terraces.

The region is known for its delicious cuisine, several restaurants in the area allow you to enjoy the local specialties.
