Holiday house

La Grange Nozieres

You rent half of a large farm/grange (everything separated from the neighbors). A characteristic house with a view over the valley, in the middle of nature with the ringing of cow bells around you. Plenty of nature and everything close by. A village within cycling/walking distance, the capital at 35 minutes by car and within half an hour's drive you are high in the volcanic mountains.

TV and Wifi / internet
There is a satellite TV/radio with all Dutch HD channels and a DVD player + DVDs/movies. You can also use the WiFi network wirelessly, also outside on the terraces.

Living room
The living-sleeping area is 120 m2 and is entirely on the ground floor. The living room of 60 m2 has a large dining table with 6 chairs, a comfortable sofa and several armchairs. The sofa can easily be folded out for an extra bed.

kitchen diner
The open kitchen is fully equipped: dishwasher, combi oven, induction hob, fridge + large freezer, coffee maker / Senseo. Are you missing something....let us know...

There are 3 bedrooms, 1 with extra sink. Two rooms have 2 single beds (90 x 200 cm). One bedroom has a single bed and a comfortable pull-out bed. The sofa in the living room can be converted into 2 extra beds. There are 2 cots available.

The house is surrounded by lots of land with a panoramic view over the valley and the village. In addition to the large balcony, there is a large terrace. You can make a campfire on the gravel terrace. There is also a large playing field. And if it is a bit colder or if it rains, you can all sit together by the outdoor fireplace (under the terrace). Of course the bbq is not missing! You can see everywhere freely and you are not bothered by neighbors.

Suitable for children
There is plenty available for children: high chair, 2 cots, playpen, stair gates, large playground, swimming pool, toys, etc....

The weather is subject to the continental and mountain climate. All temperatures are more extreme. When the sun shines, it immediately feels warmer and the number of hours of sunshine is much greater than in the Netherlands. It is located quite south of Bordeaux so that the warm influence of the Midi is clearly noticeable. At night it is still really dark with a clear starry sky that you no longer see in the Netherlands.

The mountains of the Cantal
Most Dutch people know the Dordogne, the Ardèche, Puy de Dome and the Lot, but not the Cantal, which lies exactly in the middle of them. Even for France connoisseurs, the Cantal is a real surprise and discovery. The Cantal is located in the volcanic area of the Massif Central. The highest peak is the Plomb du Cantal (1855m) and the Puy Mary (1800m). The Cantal = nature: green-blue mountains, rivers, lakes, waterfalls. The mountain landscape was once formed by volcanic eruptions and the scouring of glaciers.

Salers (15 minutes drive)
Thanks in part to its medieval atmosphere, connoisseurs consider it one of the most beautiful places in the region. Some even rank Salers among the most beautiful places in all of France. On the various squares and in the streets there are various shops, studios and of course cozy restaurants.

Aurillac (35 minutes drive)
The capital is Aurillac, a beautiful city worth seeing with an old core, shops, restaurants, boutiques and a wide range of culture: music, museums, horse races and the fantastic Théâtre de Rue in August.

Hiking in the mountains
The Cantal is dotted with hiking trails from one hour, half-day to multi-day tours (hut tours). So, you have to bring your walking shoes. Walking on the mountain ridges, because of the lack of forests, you soon have the idea that you are walking in the High Alps. The real climbers will get their money's worth... or you can take the chairlift (Lioran) or the large cabin lift (Plomp du Cantal) and just walk...

A cycling paradise
In the Cantal you will only encounter semi/pro cyclists in the mountains. It is not for nothing that the Cantal is almost always included in the Tour de France.

Canoeing, horse riding, fishing
Within an hour's drive you can canoe on the Dordogne, the Truyère or the Lot. And what about horseback riding in the mountains or fishing for trout.

You can swim everywhere in the large lakes where you can still find freshwater crayfish. Surfing, catamaran sailing, water skiing, everything is possible and for rent.

Castles and Churches
The Cantal is dotted with Romanesque churches that are among the most beautiful in France and you will find castles and manor houses everywhere. One hundred meters from the farm is the castle St. Pol. Several castles and villages (including Jussac) have their own summer festivities with knights' games, son et lumières, pilgrimage parades, fire games, etc.

Our parents bought this property 20 years ago and converted it (which was then still a barn) into a wonderful place to stay. Our parents are no longer there, but we (the sons of) are continuing the project because, just like our parents, we have fallen in love with the house, the environment and the people.

Additional information

1. We have switched to the Micazu platform since June 2021. Due to the death of our parents and corona, the rental has also been silent for a while. Would you like to read reviews from tenants who have stayed in La Grange Nozières before? Then go to our website:

2. There is a built-up swimming pool (Ø366 x 76 cm) available. If you want to use it, please set it up yourself. There is also a smaller inflatable pool.

3. The garden is fenced but not completely closed. If there are cows grazing in the adjacent pasture, there is an electric fence. So be careful with small children.

4. You are in the middle of nature and close to civilization. Nature also means you can hear cow bells ringing and there may be flies.

5. Although it is part of a farm, everything else is separated: own entrance, private terrace and a secluded garden. So you don't notice anything from the neighbors (also a Dutch couple who spend their holidays here a few weeks a year).
In the village there is a bakery where you can buy delicious fresh bread in the morning. The bakery is open Monday to Sunday, 07:00-12:30 and 16:00-19:00.
There is a small supermarket in the village.
In the village you can have a delicious lunch and dinner at Hotel - Restaurant "La Source du Mont
Het zwembad in Saint-Martin-Valmeroux is verwarmd, maar niet overdekt. Geopend in juli en augustus.
