Have you ever wanted to spend your vacation in a medieval house? Then this is your chance! This house is located in the middle of the medieval town of Alba la Romaine. The walls are meters thick and built of river boulders. The vaults on the ceiling on the ground floor give the house extra character.
The house is equipped with all comforts. On the ground floor there is a large cave with a large dining table and a kitchen. The kitchen is well equipped with all kitchen utensils. Halfway up the spiral staircase is the bathroom. The spacious bathroom has a bath with shower, a bidet, toilet and sink. On the 1st floor there is a bedroom with a double bed and a large living room. The living room gives access to a terrace.
On the other side of the terrace is a blue door. This door gives access to the sleeping house. This second bedroom can therefore only be reached via the terrace. The sleeping house has its own bathroom.
The house is located in the middle of the attractive and old center of Alba la Romaine, where you can get lost in the small streets. You can enjoy walking along the river Escoutay, which flows past the village. The bakery, the butcher, a greengrocer's shop, a small supermarket and a pharmacy are just around the corner. On Sunday morning there is an attractive market in the center. In Alba la Romaine and in La Roche, which is within walking distance, you can find nice restaurants.
With its medieval character and Roman remains, the village of Alba la Romaine is "l'un des plus beaux villages de France". The Roman excavations can be visited as well as the adjacent museum. There are also many places of interest in the wider area, such as the Gorges de l'Ardeche, the cave of Chauvet at Pont d'Arc with its prehistoric cave drawings and many other beautiful villages such as Vogue and Balazuc.
