In the mountains of Alta Val di Vara lies Santa Maria di Maissana, stretched out on the flank of the mountain with beautiful and wide views towards Tuscany, the sea, the mountains of Carrara and the biological Valley of the Vara. The originally stone house, is located in the "Borgo Antico" of this rustic village. The house was completely renovated 12 years ago and has a large terrace, a garden and balcony facing south.
Furthermore, the house consists of two parts connected by an inner corridor, over Via Macalle, the village street. The main house has a living room/kitchen on the top floor with balcony and a common square with the neighbors, where the front doors are also located and the main staircase to the street. The second floor consists of a bedroom, bathroom and staircase with wide authentic staircases. Adjacent, the own private terrace and the passage with stone stairs to the underlying terraces or garden.
The lower floor is the original cantina, converted into an office + a small storage room and there is the pellet boiler for radiators and hot water. This space has the possibility of conversion for a spacious extra bedroom,
The "tower", the second part of the house, through the corridor, indoors, across the street; consists of a bedroom on the top floor, a bathroom on the floor below with "own" door to a courtyard with lime tree and on the ground floor a cantina/storage with access from the street. This 2nd part can therefore also be used as a private apartment.
The whole is playful and rebuilt while retaining original elements, such as natural stone "en vue", the stairs and arches (arcs) in the house and under the square. Furthermore, wood has been used extensively for ceilings, roof construction and all doors and windows in chestnut wood with double glazing. The roof is insulated with cork and there are four skylights.
The living room has an extra wood stove next to the central heating.
