The charming holiday home Scatolina stands on 4000 m² of land under the medieval part of San Giovanni a Piro. It is located in the Cilento, the southern part of the Italian region of Campania. An Eldorado for lovers of nature and tranquility. The municipality consists of three villages, San Giovanni itself, Scario by the sea and Bosco more inland. The house is surrounded by greenery on the old grain fields of the village. The view is determined by the Monte Bulgheria (1221 m) and the house overlooks the mountain ridges of the Apennijnen.De sea, the Golfo di Policastro, is only 4 km downhill. Scatolina is located in the Cilento National Park, Vallo di Diano e Alburni.
In 2008 we designed the house in the old, local architectural style. A local contractor then built it and delivered it in 2010. People from the village sometimes ask if the house has always been there. Of course it is equipped with all modern comforts such as insulated cavity walls, double glazing and gas-fired central heating. Inside, the old style has been continued so that a cozy living environment has been created. Scatolina consists of a hall and stairwell, a living room, kitchen, three bedrooms and two bathrooms. Upstairs there is a small storage attic and downstairs a small storage room, in total approx. 125 m² of living space.
To the front of the house there is a pergola, overgrown with kiwi plants. Behind the house near the kitchen is a covered terrace next to a small orchard with lemon and plum trees. Around the house are a number of olive trees where the olives provide their own olive oil in the winter period. On the 4000 m² there are also the necessary trees that partly provide shade and partly firewood. The firewood can be stored in the wood storage behind the house and then used in the wood stove in the living room.
Scatolina is a lovely house that can be lived in all year round. Enjoy from spring when the mimosa tree is in bloom, in early summer with plums and then in autumn with figs and nuts up to winter with olives and kiwis.
The 4000 m² of land is located directly around the house and is owned. It is part of 1.6 ha belonging to two plots (San Giovanni a Piro, foglio 22 part. 503 and 505). Scatolina is on plot 503. On plot 505 there are three houses of Dutch owners. The major maintenance of the site is organized together.
