House in the Creuze

One and a half kilometers outside the village of Bonnat (department of Creuse) is our well-renovated farmhouse. There are no immediate neighbors, privacy guaranteed. From the road there is a 60 meter driveway.

The farmhouse has a living area of approximately 250 m2. On the ground floor are a dining room (with a beautiful fireplace) with open kitchen, a spacious utility room and washing facilities, a very spacious lounge with patio doors to the terrace and a bathroom with shower, bath, toilet and sink. There is also a separate toilet.

On the first floor, from the large landing, you reach three bedrooms and a bathroom with shower, toilet and sink. The second floor has two more bedrooms.

There is a (heated) swimming pool of 4.5*9 meters, with a large pool house and storage room.

The whole stands on almost 5,000 m2 of land, including an orchard with apple, pear and plum trees.

Eleven years ago we bought the house and renovated it considerably, the bathrooms have been renewed, the utility room has a new roof, a washing/drying room and a new toilet have been installed.

All Velux skylights have been renewed, as have all windows and (exterior) doors. Part of the roof has also been renewed. We have also placed a barn near the swimming pool. The electricity has also been modernized.

In the village of Bonnat there are a bakery, a butcher, an excellent supermarket (with real butcher and fresh fish), three restaurants and a medical center. and a pharmacy. There is also a do-it-yourself business. For more shops, supermarkets, an Action and Zeeman, there is Guéret, the capital of the Department, at 18 km.

An hour's drive away there are the cities of Limoges (with many shops, museums - including the porcelain museum, - and good and cozy restaurants) and the cozy Bourges with a beautiful cathedral with dazzling stained glass windows. Chateauroux is also worth a visit. Aubusson is known for its tapiserie museum.

Not far from Limoge is Oradour sur Glane, a village that was set on fire by the Germans in the 2nd World War with all its inhabitants. The remains of the village are untouched and are now a recovering place/museum. Extremely impressive. 

In the vicinity is also the surprising maison Georges Sand (19th century writer, who lived with Chopin for more than 10 years). Near Bonnat is the Chateau Mornay,. which has as a special feature a race circuit on the site. The Chase et Nature event is also organized every year, where many hunting dog breeds are presented and proof of the training of hunting dogs is provided.
