Le Jardin du Jauny is located at the end of a private road and is a 5-minute walk from the village of Vesdun. The house is surrounded by an oasis of peace. The layout
Ground floor large house;
In the spacious bright hall there is a beautiful staircase that leads to the first floor of the house. A large kitchen has a view of the tree garden on two sides and is equipped with a 6-burner stove, a dishwasher and a beautiful solid wooden countertop. The sitting and dining room with wood stove also has a view of the garden on three sides.
On the ground floor are 2 spacious bedrooms with large windows overlooking the garden; a children's room; a spacious bathroom with bath, shower and double sink; a spacious laundry room and finally a separate toilet.
There is a new central heating boiler and all electrical lines were completely renewed in 2011.
As a surprise, the house also has a very beautiful vaulted wine cellar.
First floor;
On the first floor, renovated in 2013 and well insulated, there are two very spacious bedrooms and a bathroom with shower and a separate toilet. Given the extra space, there is the possibility to build additional rooms here.
There is a spacious attic.
The History of the Park Garden;
The original arboretum (of 3853m2) was created from a passion of the former owner. He worked for the 'Postes' and exchanged tree seeds with colleagues from all over the world. After the seeds had grown into trees, he had them brought in a beautiful detailed hand-drawn map with name, year and origin mentioned. This special map hangs in the house. (see photo).
The now tall trees provide a pleasant cooling in the hot summer days and various birds and owls have made their nests there. The garden has an abundance of roses, shrubs and plants that bloom alternately, which ensures that it is a true floral display every season.
In autumn, the garden looks like something out of a fairy tale: during that period, the house is surrounded by a 'carpet of fragrant pink and white flowering cyclamen'. (see photo).
In the distance there is a view of the gently sloping meadows, surrounded by hedges where Charolais cows graze peacefully. Large park gardens also border on both sides of the garden. In short: there is a serene silence all around.
The area
From the house you can walk straight into the rolling countryside, with beautiful walks in unspoiled nature along streams and meadows where cows graze and seek shade under old, thick oak trees.
In the village there is a restaurant on the square, next to the old Romanesque church with frescoes dating from the 12th century.
15 minutes away in the car is a large swimming lake, remarkably enough not yet discovered by mass tourism. There are various activities for adults and children of all ages, such as a climbing forest course, pedaloes, etc. In the summer there are daily flea markets and fairs in the wider area.
There is a lot to discover here in terms of culture, grand chateaus, monasteries, gardens and a multitude of Romanesque churches.
There is a beautiful 18-hole golf course 15 minutes away in the car and horse riding is also possible nearby!
Accessibility
The house is an 8-hour drive from the center of the Netherlands. Traveling by train is also a possibility. The train stops 15 minutes from the house. The train journey is also 8 hours.
There is one airport in Clermont Ferrand to which Air France and HOP fly from United States. This airport is a 1.5 hour drive from the house.
In short, within a day you are sure to be at this wonderful destination!
