The Holy Cow

Summers are , because of the Central European continental climate pretty hot, so we spend most of our time in the garden. First we get through the large (lockable) gateway or from the central hall or dining room in the 500 m2 large front yard.
Here is a large play lawn surrounded by flower beds with blooming plants and an herb garden under the kitchen window.
Some fruit trees and a large walnut ensure desired shade, but there are also plenty of spots for sun worshipers. For example, around the pool!
The front garden is separated from the orchard behind by a huge covered outdoor terrace. Elevated and covered with grapes.
From this pergola we are overlooking the front garden and the pool and then we look out over the fields and see the mountains on the horizon. Here is the outdoor kitchen and a large picnic table which seats up to 12 people. We also find there a permanent outdoor grill associated with a supply of fruit trees.
For the fruit itself, we step down from then the pergola to an orchard of 1500 m2 . Compleletely enclosed by medieval walls and fencing. Here are more than 40 varied fruit trees, which from May to October ensure a steady supply of ORGANIC FRUIT.
If you like , you can make your own plum jam, blackberry jam, apple sauce, stewed pears or apple pie.
But you can also pick the cherries, strawberries, blackberries and currants gooseberries for dessert!
During the day in the company of many songbirds and butterflies in both parts of the garden we find ourselves a nice place under a fruit tree and we can cool off in the pool or under the outdoor shower.
We use our Meals on the Pergola, although with a smaller party we also like to use the intimate veranda adjacent to the dining room.
When darkness falls in , the bats take over from the songbirds. The environment knows no light pollution, so it quickly becomes really dark. We then enjoy the beautiful starlight in the kies. Especially in summer with many shooting stars!
