Bon Nochi are the regular greetings on the island.
People are nice, but also keep in mind the big differences between 'poor' and 'rich' on the island.
It is safe but avoid places in the city center and local beaches and secluded pieces of nature after dark.
Of course, a tropical island also has tropical inhabitants, such as: Cockroach, bat, geckos, salamanders, lizards, etc. And mosquitoes too...
The house is completely treated to prevent as much discomfort as possible, but completely banning them will never work.
The general rule is; If you open a package of food, you keep it in the fridge(!).
Also chips, nuts it doesn't matter what. All open packaging goes IN the fridge.
In the morning and evening, mosquitoes are active !! Not dangerous but can be uncomfortable. A little spray with Deet is enough and the air conditioning in the bedroom also keeps them away.
Dogs: There are many dogs on the island, as guards or for company, there are also packs of wild dogs, somewhere in the distance you can always hear a dog barking. The nearby neighbors of the resort have guard dogs and they watch well over the neighborhood and make themselves heard from time to time.
Air conditioners; use them especially, but note the energy?? electricity is twice the price of this in Europe. Settlement afterwards via meter.
The same rules apply in traffic as in the Netherlands/Europe.
Although they hardly stick to it here... Maximum speed is 80km per hour. Alcohol and driving are also not officially allowed, but there is hardly any enforcement. Please note:
Traffic from the right does not necessarily have priority, but traffic driving on the main road does... confusing but you get used to it quickly.
When refueling, you pay in advance, so guess/think about how much you need.

Gasoline is cheap fortunately.
Download the app 'maps.me' because it allows you to navigate offline. Data costs 1,000 euros per Gig here... So turn off your roaming!!!!
You can pay anywhere with your debit card. Do release it for 'debit card payments outside the EU'... Also make sure you always have some cash, because there is regular malfunction. You can withdraw money anywhere with your debit card.
Don't be put off if you wake up with clouds or even heavy rain showers. Often these only last for a short time and on the island the weather differs greatly per moment and area. In the end, the sun usually shines brightly and it is always 28-30 degrees.
Apply sunscreen well, even 'at home' because you can also bandage on the veranda.
Curaçao has beautiful beaches, you have to know where to find them.
Popular beaches have (very) good culinary facilities and reserving the (mostly luxurious) beds is therefore recommended for Jan Thiel (Zest) and Mambo Beach (Mood Beach).
The 'pristine' natural beaches often have inadequate catering, so bring food with you.

The D5 apartment

It's personal but I usually set the air conditioning to 23 degrees with fan on minimum then you sleep well under the duvet. If you are not using the room, please turn off the air conditioning. The LED display on the air conditioner can be
turn you off by pressing the left button at the bottom of the remote.

Furthermore, everything is provided, towels, beach towels, bed linen etc and the cleaning is after departure and before your arrival (via Sanneke). Interim cleaning can be requested from Sanneke for a fee. You can wash and dry towels yourself in between if necessary, but Sanneke will arrange the bed linen. Washing machine and dryer are available.
Coffee machine is with coffee beans, there are service beans that you can buy everywhere, including from Albert Heijn den Tweel, Jan Thiel and Zeelandia if they run out.?
