Villa Pengari has been restored while preserving the Istrian style and many of the original and artistic elements that we found in the ruins have been preserved as much as possible in the renovation, such as an old workbench, large fireplace and the original insulation tiles and roof tiles. We were very kindly welcomed by the Croatian villagers in 2004 who helped us enormously with this project which really made Villa Pengari feel like our second home.
Due to its location at the end of the village, in the shape of a ribbon and where only a few people live, the house is very private and is completely surrounded by nature with a beautiful view of the Mirna valley. At the same time, it is easy to do your shopping in nearby Buzet.
There is also a private swimming pool which forms a beautiful whole with the rest of the rustic atmosphere. In 2023, the pool and downstairs terrace with pergola were completely renewed. There is also internet/wifi from July 2023 and air conditioning in the three bedrooms from summer 2025. From 2026 there will also be air conditioning in the living room on the ground floor and faster and unlimited satellite broadband internet.
One criticism from previous tenants was that there are insects in and around the house, which is a result of. the fact that the house is really in the middle of nature. From the coming rental period in 2025, we will ensure that, in the most nature-friendly way possible, guests will not be bothered by this.
From Pengari you can easily visit the beautiful north of the Istrian interior, such as Buzet, Motovun, Groznjan and Oprtalj, and from the house you can make beautiful bike rides and walks. And of course the sea is never far away in Istria.
