Tips Bonaire: To do 1. You have snorkelling spots along the entire coastal strip. They are indicated by white stones. You can always park your car along the road or you can drive onto the beach. 2. Great snorkeling spots are: Saltpier (If no ship is moored and right side of the pier) irrevocably swim with turtles. Thousands of steps. Andrea 2 and 3 (from P turn left after 100 meters thatched parasol). Start of the boulevard (north side) in Kralendijk (now that there are no cruise ships you can see stingrays between the boats at anchor). 3. You can dive along the entire coast from the beach. You can also register through a diving school for a boat trip to special places or Klein Bonaire. A drift dive (in 1 place and a few kilometers further out) or a wreck dive (Hilma Hooker). 4. You can purchase and/or have bottles filled at any diving school. This also applies to renting dive equipment. I always arrange everything through “Between the Corals”. AB rental has a filling station. 5. Washington Slagbaai National Park: bring your ID! You will not be allowed through without an ID. It costs 45 euros per person. With this you are authorized to dive in the waters of Bonaire (Stinapa) for the calendar year. If you do not lose your note, you can enter the park again with a discount. Take the long Route from the park. You will meet parrots on the cacti, iguanas, lizards, birds of prey. You can cool off in water basins in a cove or a beautiful sandy beach. Overlooking a freshwater lake with flamingos and pelicans. Wakaya 2 is one of the most beautiful sandy beaches (very small so you have to be there on time). Boka Slagbaai is larger and very relaxed. View of the bay, sandy beach and in the back the salt lake with diversity of birds. Here is a toilet, some benches and umbrellas. 6. You can tour around the Salt Lake. Flamingos in various places. Along the kite beach. And past the slave houses. 7. Beach Sorobon Beach resort: a beautiful saltwater inland sea for surfers (our Olympic champion Kyran Badloe learned to surf here) and beach lovers. Go early and rent a 2 person beach bed for 20 USD per day. You get a bucket with 2 bottles of cold water. Report to the bar. You are served. At noon you can have lunch on the terrace. Next to it is a Hang Out Beach Bar. A surf and relax spot for the youngsters. There is always music. But you are close together. 8. Lac Bai: In the direction of Sorobon, take the exit to Le Lac on the left. Less touristy beach, lovely place to spend a few hours. Do not go here the first days because you burn quickly (a lot of wind and hardly any shelter). You can wade through the water around the bushes to take a seat on the beach point. THE strip between the mangrove nature reserve and the sea. Advice; bring a well-stocked cool box. Nice to see there are the many pelicans. 9. Mangrove trek. On the way to Le lac you can rent a canoe to go into the mangrove. Is always organized (with guide) and has a price tag (95 USD pp). 10. Ride along coastline (north side) to GOTO Lake and Rincon. Beautiful views along the way. And places to take a walk up the hill with great views of the island. 11. Little Bonaire ; You can take a boat to Klein Bonaire at 2 places. Check in at the harbor or at Karels. In front of Klein Bonaire is a very beautiful reef. A white sandy beach but no shelter and no eating and drinking facilities. The captain gives you the choice to walk a bit yourself and go snorkelling along the reef with the current, or on the way back at the buoy you go overboard and snorkel with the current back to the arrival point of Klein Bonaire. 12. Renting a beach bed is also possible at Delfins beach resort (report at barrier) or Ocean Oasis. ON the road towards Belnem. 13. Food and drink: You can do your shopping at van Tweel. That's the AH of the island. It is cheaper to go to WAREHOUSE (kind of Jumbo). There are many Chinese supermarkets that sell food and non food. They are not always cheaper. 14. You will find a wonderful DA drugstore in Hato. Kaya off Amsterdam and at the roundabout on the right you will see the shopping center. In this center you will also find a “Jamin”. 15. Near the house is also a delicious Dutch bakery: The Dutch Bakery. Restaurants: 16. The red double-decker bus on the road to the airport. Take chairs to the beach, order your hamburger/veggie burger/sweet fries etc. and enjoy the setting sun. 17. Italian restaurant Sebastian's: Italian evening every Sunday evening. Affordable food and also enjoy a beautiful sunset. Always book well in advance for a table on the outside terrace. Atmospheric restaurant. 18. Brass Boer (Jonnie and Therese Boer), beautiful restaurant, a bit more expensive but for a 3 course dinner it's not too bad. Served as art. Cool location.
