Gîte Dérive is located in Treignes, a village of barely 700 inhabitants in the south of the province of Namur. From the house and from the terrace you have a panoramic view of forests, meadows and green hills. In the morning, the sky turns a beautiful pink above the valley.
The domain consists of two identical gîtes. We rent one out as Gîte Dérive, the other we occasionally use ourselves as a couple. Your gîte has its own entrance, its own garden and complete privacy.
The area has recently become part of the Parc National Entre Sambre et Meuse. From the garden you can walk straight into the protected nature reserve, where you can spot deer, (sometimes) wild boars and birds of prey. In spring, wild orchids bloom in the nearby Fondry des Chiens, a spectacular rock formation. Butterfly lovers also come here from far and wide. Cyclists will find an extensive network of routes through the hills and valleys of the Viroin.
Treignes itself is surprisingly lively for such a small village. There are five museums, a convenience store, a restaurant and you can paddle in the Viroin. Just across the French border, a ten-minute drive away, are charming villages such as Hierges, Vireux and Givet.
The gîte can accommodate up to 7 people, spread over three bedrooms. Two bedrooms are on the first floor, each with its own shower and sink. The third bedroom is an open attic space with three beds and a sink, ideal for children who will also find a lot of toys there.
The living space is an open space with a fully equipped kitchen (induction, oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge with freezer, coffee maker, Dolce Gusto), a dining area and a sitting area with TV. A pellet stove heats the whole house on cold evenings. There is also a heat pump that can heat in the winter and work as an air conditioner in the summer.
On the first floor you will find an infrared sauna in bedroom 2. A place to completely unwind.
Outside you have two terraces. The panoramic terrace with a view of the woods and meadows and the garden terrace at the back with BBQ and a wood stove for cozy evenings outside.
For families with children, the gîte is fully equipped. There are cots, a high chair, stair gates, a bath, a changing mat, a toilet seat and a baby relax. In the garden there is a trampoline, a slide. In the garage you will find a play area with a ping pong table, darts, and all kinds of toys, dress-up clothes and books. In rainy weather there is also a bar with a sitting area.
Practical: there is wifi, a washing machine and dryer and a charging point for electric cars.
Unfortunately, pets are not allowed.
